and people of Tripura. But perhaps, one of the most important aspect of the Federation has been ‘to speak truth to power’. Over the years the Federation has raised its voice against dam construction alienation of indigenous peoples’ land by state and militarization of North East by Indian state. In state like Tripura where the indigenous people have been reduced to politically insignificant minority and push to the margin, it is from that margin we have challenged and struggled against anti-indigenous people policies of the state. In 1996 the Federation rechristened as “ Twipra Students’ Federation” in order to encapsulate its nationalistic attributes and around the World. Today the Federation is a member organization of North East Students Organisation (NESO). At present the Federation is led by two dynamic leaders Samrat DebBarma ( President) and Hamalu Jamatia(General Secretary). They have been able to instill newzeal and vigor.
