Simple, old-school, ridiculously delicious, and easily one of my favorite meals I’ve had in Jerusalem.

‘Only in Tel Aviv’ part 13

So what food is ACTUALLY Israeli

Sabich is one of the few foods we can pretty confidently say was invented right here in Israel. Its ingredients come from the traditional Shabbat breakfast of Iraqi Jews. But putting all that eggplant, egg, potato, salad, tahini and amba together inside a pita? That happened right here…

And if you want to try one of the best, Sabich Frishman is easily in my top 3 in Tel Aviv and it’s KOSHER!

The best thing about food in Israel isn’t where every dish was invented. It’s the mix of people, cultures and flavors from all over the world that somehow all ended up together in this tiny country

But yellow and orange are in this summer.

I found this farm in Kadima growing some seriously unique watermelons, including yellow, orange, square and heart-shaped ones. The yellow and orange are ready to eat right now, and they are sweet, juicy and delicious.

The square and heart-shaped ones are just for display for now, but they’re working on growing tasty versions for next year.

There’s also tons of other fresh produce, plus goats and donkeys, making it a really fun little weekend stop, especially with kids.

And this isn’t even their biggest fruit achievement… they hold the Guinness World Record for the largest strawberry ever 🍓 So obviously I’ll be back this winter.
