Official account of the Round Ireland Yacht Race. Starting 20th June 2026 from Wicklow
The Round Ireland Yacht Race is Ireland’s premier offshore sailing race and is held every two years by Wicklow Sailing Club in association with the Royal Ocean Racing Club & since 2014 also with Royal Irish YC in Dun Laoghaire. The 704 nautical mile race was first held in 1980 and still retains the original course; “leave Ireland and all its islands excluding Rockall to starboard.” The next edition of the race will take place on the 22nd June 2024.

The final stretch!
More arrivals expected into Wicklow Sailing Club today after a 6 days at sea! The calm weather has taken this Round Ireland to near record duration with 9 out of the 53 crews that started the race having had to retire.
The calm weather has also delayed Friday’s prize giving to Saturday to allow the majority of crews to return for a celebration ✨
