Trust me. I know what I'm doing πŸ’™

"I wouldn't be able for that"

"I need to get fit before I join up"

"Your other clients are much fitter/stronger than me"

All excuses you're selling yourself because you're worried about judgement from me, or other clients.

We aren't like that here.

EVERYONE is different.

Some clients will Squat the 32kg Kettlebell, others the 8kg Dumbbell, others will do a Wall Sit due to knee pain, others will have bad ankles and have to stick to band work for their hamstrings!

What do they have in common?

They are all strength training in the gym.

They all messaged me at some point saying "I want to do something for me"

Do you want to be a part of Waterfords best gym community? Yes that's us. I'm saying out loud.

No cliques, no bu****it, no gossip. I won't allow it.

That's not a gym I would join and it's not the gym I want to own. Too much of that in this fu***ng city already. Or so I'm told 🀣🀣

Training. Chats. Laughs. Good people supporting good people.

Time for a shout out to Motiv8 Fitness

As a gym owner I was becoming extremely frustrated at not training more often.

"Must be easy when you own the place" πŸ™„

My gym is my job. When I went there to train I would half arse it. Start cleaning or organising. Record a video. Scroll for 15mins between sets. I was also being too nice designing my training plans. Exercises I enjoyed over ones I needed to do. Nice rep ranges and too much rest 🀣

Useless stuff. When work was over I wanted to leave.

I needed separation from work when I trained. So when Motiv8 moved to Johnstown I couldn't have been happier.

Kevin and I had become friendly as owners of similar style businesses so I trusted him. Margo , a coach here, had been a student of mine in WCFE so I knew she was a great coach. And knowing Lauren and Ben now too they are a great team with similar values to mine - person first coaching!

Friday and Monday are my days with a run on Wednesdays. Steps stay high throughout the week and I'm currently tracking calories to ensure I'm getting the most from my efforts πŸ“Š

Outsourcing my own training needed to be done because every coach needs a coach πŸ’ͺ

You DO know what to eat.....

You just need to know where to start.

AI, for all its flaws and threat of human extermination, is awesome for stuff like this.

I won't do this and call it "coaching" but for clients to do themselves it can be a game changer in terms of providing inspiration.

The bug difference will always be the gap between information and results is action.

Acting on information and applying your knowledge is the important part.

Try this.

It's not perfect.

But if you're overwhelmed and unsure where to start it gives a baseline.

What are your thoughts on this idea?

70% intensity for 20years will always beat 100% intensity for 6 months.

Sure, we need to challenge ourselves at the gym.

But when you have other responsibilities like a job/career, family obligations, hobbies and pastimes then an injury or fatigue or extreme soreness will impact that.

Training should enhance what you do.

Not take from it or make it more difficult.

Currently awaiting MRI to assess extent of ligament damage.

First step of rehab is get back walking and to be relatively pain free. That's it. Some very light movement through VERY limited range of motion because of the swelling right now.

Tough week with the weather we have had and the kids off school 😭😭

"What should I eat?" is a question I've been asked hundreds of times.

My reply?

"What do you like?"

Most adults will know what's healthy and what's not.

What kills progress is not that we don't know how to eat better its that we don't do it for long enough to see any progress at all.

πŸ“FRUIT IS HEALTHY. I don't know any overweight people that overdo it on the strawberries.

🍞BREAD IS DELICIOUS. If it causes you to feel bloated maybe skip it or try gluten free.

🍽DINING OUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE IS OK! Every day is going to be a calorie tracking nightmare.

πŸͺA BISCUIT WITH A CUPPA IS FINE. Eating 8 is a problem.

Write down a list of all the foods you like. Buy them. Eat them. Reduce the s**t you buy and you'll reduce the s**t you eat.

More fruit. More veggies. More protein. More water. More walking. More sleep.

Less junk food. Less alcohol.

Do all that and you'll be feeling healthier within 2 weeks.

Trust me πŸ’™
