While our Ladies, Juniors and Mixed teams have had a very successful few years in team competitions, no Men’s team had won Munster Title since 1992 and Tipperary GC had never won a Jimmy Bruen title.

On Sunday morning, we played Clonakilty in the East Munster Semi Final. This was a match that always looked destined for tie holes, with the score finishing at 2-2. Pat and Niall were given the task of representing the team in extra holes. On the 2nd tie hole, a par was enough to clinch a spot in the final.

After a quick turnaround at lunch, Tipp faced East Cork in the East Munster Final. With a few holes to go, it looked like years of hurt for the Men’s club would extend. However, this team wasn’t going down without a fight. With the score at 1-1, the 2nd last match won 16 and 17 to flip their match and held on to clinch a vital 2nd point.

The final match was 1 down on the 18th tee, so they had to win the final hole to secure the title for us. However, this pair were used to tackling fires. With the Munster title on the line, Niall O’Shea slotted a tricky 5 foot putt to clinch victory for Tipperary GC. Tipperary Golf Club are now Jimmy Bruen East Munster Champions !

Congrats to Manager Pat Ryan G and Assistant Manager Adam Long. A special mention to the men who ended the drought: Philip Ryan, James Ryan, Conor Ryan, Shane Moloney, Fergal Longergan, Niall O’Shea, Tommy Crowe, Pat Flanagan, James O’Brien and Jim Mcglynn.
