Thomastown United A.F.C Thomastown United A.F.C. play in the Kilkenny & District League and are affiliated to the Football Association of Ireland.

An amateur club with a membership of 300 adults and children, we have two junior teams, an over 35 team, a youths team, a ladies team and schoolboys and schoolgirls teams in all age groups. We also run a soccer school each weekend for 5-7 year olds and the FAI Soccer Sisters scheme for girls aged 7-12. In recent years, the club has worked hard to develop our playing and changing facilities, and now boast one the finest facilities in the southeast.

Our U14 white team kicked off their season in style with a good win away to Evergreen.
Thomastown started strongly Jaida O Hara going close after great work from Jessica Mackay. A brilliant pass from Caoimhe Lanigan sent Chloe Brennan through, forcing a brilliant save from an excellent Evergreen keeper. Laura Mai Forristal, Erin Dempsey, April Keane, Molly McCormack and Indie Farrell were letting nothing pass, giving the team a great foundation to build attacks.
Thomastown finally got the break through when April Keane played in Jaida down the left. Jaida using strength and pace to get away from Evergreen defender and toe poking the ball home.
Second half and Thomastown came out with real purpose. Jessica played in Jaida who beat 2 players and bent the ball into the corner. Caoimhe Lanigan then hit a wonder goal from 25 yards into the top corner. Anna Tyl found Jaida on the half way line,Jaida with her back to goal played a superb ball through to Chloe Brennan. Chloe creating an angle for herself finished off the far post.
Caoimhe played in Ella Tennyson down the left, Ella bursting past her defender scored an excellent goal.
Jaida completed her hat trick with the goal of the game, twisting past 3 defenders and firing her shot in off the post. Super performance against a young talented Evergreen team. All 14 players were outstanding. Erin Dempsey, Caoimhe Lanigan and Aoibhinn Muldoon pushing for POTM. But Jaida O Hara the star of the show with 3 goals and 2 assists. Well done to Molly McCormack who was outstanding on her debut and special thanks to Ruby Moran who came out to support her team this evening. Ruby wasn't available to play the match tonight.

Great performance by everyone yesterday in our match against Callan in Callan. A few minutes into the first half a Thomastown shot was blocked which led to a scramble in the box. The ball fell to Thomas who smashed it to the roof of the net to make it 1-0 to Thomastown. Not long after, Jim guided a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner. In the second half Thomastown launched attack after attack forcing corner after corner. Eventually Seán swung in a cross for Thomas to knock home. Both teams had their chances but thanks to some brilliant teamwork and some great goalkeeping, Thomastown held on for the win with a final score of 3-0. Charlie and Stephen were solid as ever at the back, letting very little get past them. Eddie put his body on the line making blocks and tackles all over the pitch. Dan held the back line well, making sure nobody strayed from their position. Leon was fantastic in goal, making some brilliant saves. Seán created some great chances from set pieces. Daire and Jim controlled the middle with Jim coming away on the scoresheet. Éanna made some great runs and was unlucky not to score. Finally, Thomas, who was unfortunate not to score last time round, found the net twice. Credit is due to Callan for a tough match but well done to our lads for coming out on top.

*Lions U14 Athletic 1–4 Thomastown United U14A*

A tremendous team performance from the U14As today, made all the more impressive with just 11 players available and no substitutes. From the first whistle to the last, the boys dug deep, worked tirelessly for one another and never allowed the intensity or determination to drop.

First-half goals from Cian Lanigan, Leon Phelan and Micheál Walsh gave Thomastown a strong lead at the break. Lions continued to battle and pulled one back from the penalty spot, but the boys remained composed and continued to push forward, with TJ Roche adding our fourth in the second half to seal a 4–1 victory.

With no substitutes available, every player had to give everything for the full game. Cian, Leon, Micheál and TJ combined skill, pace and movement going forward, while George Williams and Erik Callan locked down the midfield, winning battles, linking defence and attack and driving the team forward.

Behind them, Donnacha O’Carroll, Paul Ryan, Liam Tierney and Aidan Mc Caul held the back line superbly, staying organised, disciplined and strong against a determined Lions attack. Captain Shane Bookle led and organised the team from the back and produced a number of incredible saves throughout the match, stepping up when the team needed him.

What stood out most was the collective effort. With no opportunity to make changes, there was nowhere to hide, and the boys simply never relented. They competed for every ball, supported one another and left absolutely everything on the pitch.

A victory built on teamwork, skill, speed, strength and determination, but above all on the willingness of all eleven players to work for each other from the first whistle to the final one.

A performance the entire team can be very proud of. Together from start to finish.

Thomastown Under 12 Blacks had a tough 2nd round match away to Evergreen today. The lads started well and stuck at it early on until the deadlock was broken by Evergreen. Some big tackles went in and a close off side call in the 1st half meant Thomastown didn't get on the scoresheet and were down at half time. Despite a tough 1st half the promise of a chocolate bar at half time inspired some attacking play into the lads with some good link up play with Stanley, Padraic and Hoddari making in roads. Jamie continued to be a menace wherever he was on the pitch and gave a huge performance on his return to the line up. Despite further pressure the back line of Nyhan, James, Joey and Ben did their best to keep the Evergreen attack quiet. Ben kept working hard in the midfield however it was 'Captain' Billy who decided to go on a George Best style run and scored a super solo goal. He wasn't finished there though as he went off again down the right this time pulling it back to Stanley who somehow managed to not score himself but set up Padraic for his second of the season. Wasn't the result for the lads today but some notable performance from Joey on his debut, James and Billy in defence and Star Man today was Jamie 🔵⚪🔵⚪

Our Junior B also lost out with a lone first half strike securing all 3 points in a lively encounter at United Park on Sunday afternoon, it was a lively game with the home side probably deserving a share of the spoils but heroic defence by Southend saw them hang on till the end of the game.

Our newly formed C team traveled with a very light squad to face strong River Rangers B squad. River Rangers started on the front foot with two early goals in quick succession.
Thomastown regained some composure and kept things steady for the remainder of the half.

Out in the second half with a slight tweak to the formation and tactic, River rangers got another early goal but Thomastown did bring two back. Goals from Danny McDonald who brilliant converted a penalty won by Danny Middleton. Second was an excellent Danny Middleton comer delivery met by Shane Kearney.

Ultimately running out of steam and River Rangers able to push the lads, they took it home final scoreline of 6-2.

Thanks very much to River Rangers for hosting us and a very good game, and thank you to the referee for a very well officiated match.
