MID JUNIOR B CHAMPIONS! 🔴⚪️🏆
What a day for Killea GAA, as our Junior B hurlers secured a memorable championship victory over Gortnahoe Glengoole in Templetuohy.
In a game where every score mattered, Killea’s ability to find the back of the net proved decisive. Two first-half goals from Neil Quinlan gave Killea a vital platform, but Gortnahoe continued to punish any opportunity that came their way and went into the half-time break 0-13 to 2-6 ahead.
Despite being behind on the scoreboard, Killea remained firmly in the contest. The lads showed tremendous character, determination and belief, knowing that the game was still there to be won.
The second half became a real battle of attrition, with Dan Mc trading frees with Gortnahoe, both teams scoring five points apiece from placed balls in this half. Gortnahoe continued to find the posts, finishing with 10 points in total in the second half, but Killea had the match-winning moments. Paul Mullins added to his first-half point with 1-01 in the second half, while his brother Jimmy Mullins also contributed 1-01. Those crucial scores proved the difference, as the Mullins brothers delivered the moments that secured Killea’s memorable victory.
Paul Mullins was deservedly awarded the Premier Credit Union Man of the Match for his outstanding second-half performance. 👏
The final whistle confirmed a fantastic 4-14 to 0-23 victory, securing the Mid Junior B title and bringing immense pride to the club.
The cup was proudly presented to Killea captain Tadgh Quinlan, a fitting moment for a group of players who have worked so hard since January and have given us so many fantastic days out along the way. 🏆
And then there was the support. ❤️🤍
The tremendous Killea support, who have travelled to every match, were simply incredible yesterday. The noise, encouragement and belief from the sideline truly drove the team on when they needed it most. The lads could feel that support right throughout the game, and it made yesterday’s achievement all the more special.
This victory was also for those who are no longer with us — those who helped guide and shape Killea GAA and who we know were proudly looking down from above. And for those who couldn’t be there yesterday but were very much in our thoughts and hearts throughout the day.
A huge congratulations to the players, management and everyone who has played a part in this journey.
