Today marks the beginning of Ireland’s campaign in Ioannina, Greece, and we’re incredibly proud to see four of our players representing both Killester and Ireland on the international stage.

Ireland tip off their tournament today against Denmark at 5:30pm (Irish time) before taking on the host nation, Greece, tomorrow at 5:30pm (Irish time).

We’re delighted to welcome Mike Olson to Killester Basketball Club as our new Men’s Super League Head Coach for the 2026/27 season.

Mike joins the club with more than 30 years of coaching experience and an outstanding track record of building successful programmes, developing players and creating winning cultures. Across his career, he has recorded more than 548 career wins, earned multiple Coach of the Year honours, captured four conference titles at Black Hills State, and helped 49 players progress to college basketball during his time at Kimball Union Academy.

His coaching experience also extends to the international stage, having led the U18 USA Select Team. Most recently, Mike guided St. Vincent’s Basketball Club to a double-digit win season and a playoff berth, adding another impressive chapter to an already distinguished coaching career.

Speaking on his appointment, Mike said:

“I am honoured to accept the head coaching position at Killester. The club has a storied history and an established culture that I will work to preserve. We honour the past and look forward to an exciting future. Thank you to Chairman Mark Grennell and the search committee for this opportunity. Let’s work!”

We’re thrilled to welcome Mike to Killester and are excited for what lies ahead as we prepare for the 2026/27 Super League season.

🏀 ERIC FLANNERY COACHING CLINIC – REMINDER

Just a reminder that we’re delighted to be welcoming renowned US coach Eric Flannery to Killester Basketball Club on Tuesday 4th August.

📍 St. David’s Gym
🕖 7.00pm – 9.00pm

We’re really excited to host this special coaching clinic, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for players, coaches, parents and basketball enthusiasts to learn from one of the most respected coaches in American basketball.

Our next 6-week SOCIA-Ball term begins next Friday, 17th July, and we’d love to see some new faces joining our ever-growing group.

SOCIA-Ball is for you!

One of the best things about our group is the people. Many of our ladies came along on their own for their first session, but it didn’t take long before they felt part of the group. Everyone is welcomed with open arms, encouraged at their own pace, and supported every step of the way.

We have players of all abilities, from complete beginners to those rediscovering their love of basketball years later. If you’re carrying an injury or just want to ease yourself back into exercise, that’s absolutely fine too. There is no pressure, just a friendly, inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the game.

Our Ireland U20 Women got their FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket Division B campaign off to the perfect start yesterday with an impressive 93-81 victory over Azerbaijan! 🇮🇪🏀💚

Today they return to the court to take on Greece, with tip-off at 6:30pm.
