CCFL Div 4A Result:
Stradbally Town B 0-2 Mountmellick Utd B

After a couple of seasons away Stradbally’s second team returned to CCFL action Sunday morning hosting Mountmellick Utd’s second team. The visitors had the majority of possession in the first half but the home team defended resolutely with Noah Delaney, Blaine Corcoran and Keeper Anto Skelly keeping the scoreline level. The best chance for the home side in the first half fell to Colm Fitzpatrick who forced a good save from the away keeper on 33 mins. 0-0 at the break.
The second half took much of the same pattern although the home side offered more on the break. The deadline was broken however on 68 minutes when a good move and cross down the Mountmellick left resulted in a close range header giving Skelly no chance to put the visitors ahead. Stradbally made some changes to try force an equaliser with Colm Fitzpatrick trying his best to get behind the away rearguard, however the visitors made sure of the points on 85 mins with a low finish from 10 yards after a good break from back to front and that’s how it finished at Full Time. For the Home side they will be encouraged with a good battling display for their first game back after a couple of years break against a Mountmellick side who look like they mean business and from this performance you would think they should be in the mix for honours in this division this season. Tadgh Mullen, Colm Fitzpatrick, Blaine Corcoran and Noah Delaney the best in green on the day.
Next up for Stradbally is another local derby against Emo based Cappakeel FC next Sunday at 2pm.

The weather held firm for our Family Club Day & Robbie Moore Memorial Cup yesterday. Thanks to all who came out both young & old. Fantastic to see so many kids enjoying the day and a big shout out to Portlaoise A.F.C for once again coming over for the game, much appreciated👏
