As parents, we all want to give our kids the best possible start in life.
New research is now backing up what we see every day on poolside… children who learn to swim from an early age don’t just gain a life-saving skill — they often develop better confidence, coordination, and even stronger learning habits.
This isn’t just about swimming.
It’s about setting your child up to thrive.
The reality is, the longer it’s left, the harder it can become. Fear creeps in, bad habits form, and progress slows.
That’s why we work with children from age 4 and up — right at that perfect stage where they’re ready to learn, build confidence, and make real progress in the water.
Start them at the right time… and everything feels easier.
Our lessons are designed to help children feel safe, capable, and excited from day one — no pressure, just progress.
If your child is 4 or older, now is the perfect time to get started.

Today marks one year since we lost my Dad.
He wasn’t just my Dad — he was a coach, a mentor, and the person who shaped so much of how I see swimming, teaching, and people. A lot of what I do on poolside today comes from him. The standards, the little details, the way I try to bring the best out of every swimmer… that’s all him.
I’m in Tenerife right now, about to start a swim camp with a group of competitive swimmers — and I can’t help but think how much he would’ve loved this. He’d have been right in the middle of it, probably with a stopwatch in one hand and a bit of advice (whether you asked for it or not 😄).
There’s not a session goes by where I don’t hear his voice in some way. And I’m grateful for that.
Miss you, Dad. Still coaching with you every day. 💙

Swimmers and coaches—this is something I’m seeing more and more.
I’ve been analysing strokes since 2004, and there’s one pattern that keeps showing up:
👉 crossing over in freestyle
And it’s not just a speed issue.
Over time, I’m seeing swimmers with:
• shoulder problems
• poor alignment
• and in some cases, clear asymmetry between sides
This week I worked with a 16-year-old.
When he reached both arms forward, one arm sat significantly further forward because the shoulder had been pulled so far out of position.
Now—this is important:
I’m not saying this is proven causation.
But I am saying this…
👉 the pattern is too consistent to ignore
We already know crossover is linked to higher injury risk.
What we don’t have (yet) is long-term research showing what repeated poor mechanics like this do over time.
So if you’re in sports science, coaching, or looking for a research topic:
👉 this needs to be studied properly
Until then:
👉 fix crossover early
👉 enter in line with the shoulder
👉 don’t let bad habits build
Technique matters more than people think.
Have you seen this in swimmers? 👇
