The hosts scored two quick goals in the first half through Callum Warfield and Ethan Boyle to lead at half time.

Town had the chances in the first half through Noah hitting the crossbar and Isaiah having a shot cleared off the line.

Three changes at half time gave Town a different outlet and proved true when Eric Munongo halved the deficit shortly after half time.

CK were equalled to everything Town through at them and came away with all 3 points.

Albeit the result a fantastic display from both sides in the first game of the National League in tricky conditions. A huge thanks to CK for their hospitality and we wish them well for the rest of the season.

Ahead of our National League opener against CK United on Saturday, we sat down with Club Captain Nathan McAuley.

We asked Nathan if he had a message for the Town supporters for the season.

“We’re aiming to have a big season and give our supporters a team they can be proud of. We want to be a competitive team, give everything every week and hopefully make it a season to remember. We will do our bit on the pitch and hopefully the supporters can get behind us.

We also asked Nathan if he had a message for any new supporters what to expect to see at Station Road this season.

“For anyone new coming along expect a competitive team that plays attractive attacking football. It would be great to see plenty of new faces down supporting the club this season”.

This Saturday our National League side play in the first ever FAI National League game away to at 2PM. The game takes place in SETU Sports Grounds which is just over 45 minutes away from Newbridge so get out and support Martin and the lads.

Today the FAI hosted the 2026 National League season launch at the Sport Ireland Campus in Abbotstown in Dublin.

Club captain Nathan McAuley and manager Martin Russell were in attendance with Martin doing a brilliant interview with Tony O’Donoghue from RTE.

The competition officially kicks off this Saturday as we travel to Carlow to face CK United at 2:00PM.
