Congratulations to Lacey Muldarry, Eve Hickey and Keeley Masterson, who proudly represented Westmeath for the first time as part of the U13 Player Development Squad 🏐 The girls took on Roscommon and Longford in a well-organised tournament hosted by Athlone GAA Club.

A special congratulations also to Sarah Gallagher, who represented the county at U15 level. We are incredibly proud of you all and wish you the very best as you continue your journeys representing Westmeath 🤍🇱🇻

A huge congratulations to our Shandonagh Sharks on winning the GAA National Nursery Competition 🏐🦈🩵

A great achievement to come out on top from clubs across all 32 counties - something the coaches and volunteers involved should be extremely proud of!

We were delighted to welcome Games Development Coordinator Robbie Forde to the clubhouse, where he delivered a fantastic workshop for our nursery coaches and presented the club with new nursery equipment 🏐🥅

On Friday July 3rd, Shandonagh faced a strong Goldsmiths side from the throw-in, with goalkeeper Emma Fry producing a series of outstanding saves to keep her team in the game. Goldsmiths applied early pressure, but strong defending from Anna Geoghegan, Ellen Foran and Róisín Killian helped turn possession over on several occasions. After an end-to-end opening, Goldsmiths registered a point before Laoise Quinn struck twice to the back of the net, giving Shandonagh the advantage.

Shandonagh started the second half brightly, forcing turnovers and creating scoring chances. Laoise Quinn completed a brilliant hat-trick with her third goal followed by another, while Emma Fry made another superb save, including denying Goldsmiths from the penalty. Strong work from Róisín Killian, Shauna Butterly, Ellen Foran and Sophia Webb created further opportunities, with Becca Maguire finishing brilliantly over the goalkeepers head and into the net. Izzy Doherty also marked her first Ladies game with a well-taken goal to cap off an excellent team performance.

Shandonagh u10 boys hosted their second home blitz of the year last Saturday.
We played St Paul’s and Lilliput and the final game was played between the two Shandonagh teams. Lots of great tackling, shooting and team play. Well done to all.

Thanks to everyone who helped out at the u8 and u10 boys’ blitz last Saturday…thanks to our ref coordinator John Bawle and the four reliable young men who reffed:
Oliver Lynch, Fionn Carey, Adam Bawle and Michael Fry. Thanks to Claire and Co at the siopa and to Evan and Daniel who helped clear the pitch. Well done to all the u8 and u10 mentors. Lots of happy and smiling Shandonagh boys at the end of both blitzes.

Shandonagh U8 boys hosted Lilliput Gaels and St. Paul’s this morning for the latest round of Go Games.

All games were very competitive and it was great to see the boys progress. Thanks to all our supporters. Special thank you to our referees from our minor panel Adam, Michael, Oliver and Fionn for giving their time to ensure that the blitz ran smoothly.

Training continues Wednesday evening at 6PM. New players always welcome!
