Hard luck to the Under 14's who had a terrific battle with neighbours Lilliput Gaels this Sunday morning at the Community Field.

Our Under 16's had a good 1-13 to 2-8 win over Maryland/Tang Underage GAA in Tang this evening. Well done lads!

Hard luck to our Under 14's who were very unlucky to lose to Coralstown Kinnegad this evening at the Community Field by two points. A late goal decided the result. Next game for this group is next Sunday morning.

It was back to Ballynacargy for our second round Championship encounter against Bunbrosna and what a game it turned out to be with the result in doubt right up to the very finish. A win grabbed from the jaws of defeat means we have four points on the table after our two opening matches. That was our objective from the start but lady luck shone our direction on this occasion. Sometimes thats the way it happens. We started slowly playing with the breeze and were three down inside the first 4 minutes. It could have been worse as Bunbrosna hit the underside of the crossbar in that opening phase. We then got into a rhythm with a two pointer and a point from Ben Mc Donnell and one from Jordan had the sides level after 11 minutes on four points each.
From that stage to the 24th minute we had our best spell outscoring our opponents by eight points to one courtesy of four consecutive two pointers as we led by 0-12 to 0-5. Both sides fired over a brace of scores and we held a healthy 0-14 to 0-7 half time lead. Second half started with a useful raid on the Bunbrosna goal where Nathan Corcoran was off balance with his close in shot. In truth a goal there probably would have killed the game. Instead Bunbrosna came into the match and indeed went on to dominate long periods of the second half. Barry O Mara fired over a two pointer for Bun in the 2nd minute to reduce the gap to five. A free in the 6th minute had the margin to four before we move five ahead again in the 8th minute. A pivotal change came in the next attack when Bunbrosna got the opening goal. Sean Elliffe did well with the shot but on the follow up the goal was scored. Suddenly just two between the sides at 0-15 to 1-10 with a third of the game to go. The following phases saw Bunbrosna hold the initiative but their shooting let them down at important stages. Our defending was solid but we just hit a roadblock in attack as the scores dried up. Bunbrosna did level matters in the 21st minute and held the momentum. St Josephs did regain some initiative in the final stages as fresh legs entered the fray but again we couldn't get anything up front. As the game headed to added time, Bunbrosna looked to have taken the spoils courtesy of Aidan Finnans fine long range two pointed free but we kept at it and in a very good piece of possession football, Dean Slevin managed to wriggle in with a well taken goal near the death to claim the win.Tight one. Important Result.

Great to see some more work being done at the Community Centre recently with the outside of the centre receiving a fresh coat of paint and the installation of dugouts at the far side of the pitch. Our Under 14's were first to use the dugouts in a challenge against Tyrrellspass only hours after the works had been completed.

Our Golf Classic held in conjunction with St Joseph's LGFA on Saturday 1st August 2026 at Esker Hills Golf club proved yet again a very successful event. With 25 teams participating in near ideal conditions, it was an enjoyable occasion which has provided very useful funding for both our clubs heading into the main part of the season. Our sincere thanks to all who gave sponsorship and helped out with the organisation of the event and of course to all at Esker Hills for their continued support in allowing us access to the course annually since 2004. Keep the date for next years event which will be on Saturday 31 July 2027.
