Yes it’s that time of the year again as the Aghada & District Community Autumn Show takes centre stage next Sunday 22nd September from to 2 pm till 5 pm in Aghada Village.
He proceeds from this show runs the Community council for the year and also pays the insurance for some of the village committees
It’s a bit different this year with no competitions but still plenty on view.
The very poplar Dog show as always start off the day at 2 pm followed by the now very completive Tug of Clubs, as the East Ferry men go for three in a row and just to make things interesting, the Ferry ladies are defending the Ladies title. Talk is that a number of Clubs have been seen training hard the last few weeks but Sunday will tell all.
Plenty for the Kids to do out in the fresh air with Bouncy castle, Pedal car races, Hook the ducks, Slat the rat

Plenty to do inside as well
The East Cork STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Academy will be there to show off their wares learning through Lego. Based in Youghal the Academy offers Students the opportunity to have fun and learn at the same time.
Slime and Science fun is also a must attend for the kids.
A number of craft demonstrations will take place
Felt making demonstration,
Patchwork demonstration and exhibits,
Crochet demonstration and exhibits
Hurley making demonstration and exhibits
Flower club demonstration and exhibits small plant sale, and information on classes
Other stands include
Climate change and what we can do to help.
Vintage clothes display.
Fruit and Veg display.
As usual a number of local stalls will be present including Aghada GAA kit sale, Woodturning ect
Special prize for the best dressed teddy brought to the show
A chance to win a voucher for dinner for 2 at Barnabrow on your entry ticket
And as usual plenty of local music with Tea, Coffee and cakes served all day

Aghada Parish Clean Up
Sat 13th April
Our yearly effort to get our parish ready for the summer takes place next week. Skips will be provided at Saleen, Whitegate and Upper Aghada Villages between the hours of 10 am and 12-30 pm.
We would ask everyone to adopt a bit of road any where in the Parish to litter pick between now and then.
If you can’t bring the rubbish to your nearest skip just bag and leave it at the side of the road and let us know where it is contact 087 674 7549 (Don’t forget to seal it).
Aghada Community Council will have volunteers collecting these bags around the Parish.

Good morning all. Just a quick update on tomorrow's tug of war. The forecast is very good for tomorrow and the ground will have softened up for an easy dig in . We are starting at 3pm in the ahgada school pitch so please everybody on time. Can all teams be in their club colours ( even stretched / adds to the fun ) and teams of 8 with 2 others as coaches max. (10 medals 🏅) sports boots allowed but no spikes , please bring the entry fee €15 per team ( cheques can be to Aghada comm council and money will go-towards the cost of the Olympic style medals 😏and the kids sports ) and also required is a big sense of fun along with a competitive edge . Teams confirmed for the day so far are

There is a strong rumour that there will be at least 1 extra team coming for the first time.
All said a sincere thank you to all for giving of yere time to take part , you all have lovely memories of your own younger Day's watching the local festivals with your own families involved- ye can make new memories tomorrow !
Finally whichever team pulled the tractor up hillside last night under cover of darkness , put it back. there is an embargo on further training until 3pm tomorrow- see you all there.

poor weather today but a good forecast for tomorrow Sunday 23rd Sept just in time for the Aghada Autumn Show starting at 2-pm where we will see more of this.
