Another fantastic month for Mallow TKD & Kickboxing!
The month of May had offered the opportunity for our members to participate in two competitions.
The first was a staple on our calendar, The Tribal Cup in Oranmore.
We had our usual suspects and quite experienced competitors with Iga and Troy who were great examples to our younger kids.
Our up and coming stars, who have an intermediate level of experience after entering between 4 and 12 competitions so far, were Leo, Conor Ring, Oliver, Nicola, Natalia, Patryk, Sinead, Jakob and Donnacha who put on a great display of skills and grit.
Our novice selection had some first timers with Bianca, Francois and Azlan as well as Irene, Conor Noonan, Zuza, Maja, Lucy and Lenike. The total medal haul was an impressive 29 between the 20 competitors (13🥇, 8🥈and 8🥉)
The next competition was the Total Taekwon-Do Championships held in MTU Cork and we took a smaller squad comprising of Conor Ring, Lenike, Francois, Conor Noonan, Donnacha, Saoirse, Sinead, Sarah and Azlan. The atmosphere was relaxed as the MTU Venue has ample space for all to move around; with the tiered seating allowing a great view on all areas. Our nine warriors packed 12 medals to bring home - not a bad day in the office 😀🙏🏽
Super proud and happy with the performance and conduct of all involved- on and off the mats. We have a well deserved summer break ahead and will be back with renewed energy and enthusiasm in September.
If you are not part of Mallow Taekwon-Do & Kickboxing yet you can WhatsApp 086-2386048 to get onto our waiting list. Spaces are limited so it’s best not to delay.

Why are press-ups required in Connacht Taekwon-Do gradings as well as training?
“Taekwon-Do leads to maximising a person’s potential through intense mental AND physical training.”
Press-ups are one of the best overall conditioning exercises because they help develop:
• Upper body strength for stronger punches, strikes, blocks and stability
• Core strength for balance, posture and technique control
• Explosive power for breaking, sparring and dynamic movement
• Muscular endurance to maintain performance under fatigue
• Mental resilience through discipline and perseverance
• Joint stability to help reduce injury risk during training
A strong technique requires a strong body. 🥋👊
