Off-the beaten-track' quirky, Borderland walks. Join me, Venora, an experienced and qualified local guide for 'off-the beaten-track' quirky, Borderland walks.

Based in beautiful Ravensdale, part of Oriel of old, I will share my passion for the Cooley and the Ring of Gullion landscape of mountains and forests.

What a great walk we had on Friday during Heritage Week !
It was the first time many of the those who came along had followed this ancient route, rediscovered during COVID. We followed the mountain wall to the Valley, where life was lived for centuries, from the bronze age to the present day. Yes, there were, village settlements, cattle raids, remains of rye and potato furrows, booley huts and numerous sweat houses dotted on the the upperlands. A feast for the senses, in discovering that beyond those, 'pile of stones' , lies the ancient history of our ancestors!

Warrior Walks specialises in similar low-level walks about the history and biodiversity of Cooley and Ring of Gullion. Why not join us on our regular Friday walks..

Customs and Cures, Bees and Booley, were the main themes of today's walk from Grange.

Our bilberry taster, and caterpiller hunter- in- chief, 7 year old James was the star of the walk, who absorbed all information about the traditions of the Booley in Cooley, the Bulans and Bullocks enroute, and even enjoyed the Dancing at the Crossroads!
Coffee and cakes at Charlotte's Café completed a wonderful day out!

Keep an eye out for our next walk during Heritage Week on Friday 21st August, when we will visit a hidden Booley hut in the Ravensdale area. A great storytelling day out for the kids( and their parents!)

We've seen a wonderful range of biodiversity with Warrior Walks during the past month of Bealtaine and early June. Grange, Ravensdale Park, the Anaverna Loop, the 'Rocky Rock', and my favourite, with a group of partially sighted from Dublin, on the Dromad Loop in the pouring rain!
