3rd Loughrea Cubs pictured here, welcoming their new members.
Last terms.....3rd year Beavers have now been pulled over to their new section....They are now 1st year Cubs, starting a new term in Cub Section when scouting resumes.....Mid September 2026

At the end of our scouting term it was time for
some Beavers to move up to Cubs.
Tradition is, we use a rope to catch the Beaver from his/her current section.
Then the cubs drag them across to their new section.
Out of respect for their current friends, the Beaver
puts on a show of great resistance.....
But once they have been pulled across to the Cubs, they are mostly quite happy & ready to have moved up the ranks and join their new friends for more scouting adventures..

Thank You For Your Service Tina,
Tina Cunniffe joined Scouting Ireland with her son Cian when he was aged 6 years old
Her first contact with our 3rd Loughrea group was as Assistant County Programme Co-ordinator (ACPC) promoting programme activities and events for Beaver Scouts.
Tina received a Chief's Scout Commendation of Merit for her county role. The highlight of Cian's scouting journey, along with other Cub Scouts from 3rd Galway, was to achieve a gold standard award in the National Virtual Cub Challenge 2021.
In 2023, Tina received a merit award for eight years service.
Her son Cian went through Beavers, Cubs and Ventures with 3rd Galway.
Cian helped organise activities for the younger sections until he joined Venture Section in GACK.
For now Cian has made the hard decision to step away from his scouting journey & place his focus & attention on his education.
We wish Tina & Cian the very best of luck in the years ahead.
We will say "goodbye for now" & thank you both so much for being part of our group over the years
