Living Well With Metastatic Cancer 🩵

“In 2016, at the age of 35, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and five years of hormone therpay, I returned to work as a physiotherapist and was eventually discharged from my oncology and breast surgery follow-up.

Like so many others, I believed cancer was behind me.

In 2023, my breast cancer returned. This time, it had already spread to my bones and liver and was diagnosed as metastatic breast cancer.

Following almost two years of targeted therapy, my cancer progressed and I began chemotherapy as part of a clinical trial. My treatment is ongoing.

Throughout my journey, specialist rehabilitation has played an enormous role in helping me maintain my strength, confidence, independence and quality of life.

As both a physiotherapist and someone living with metastatic breast cancer, I have experienced the value of specialist rehabilitation from both sides. I know how fortunate I have been to access this support, and I also know that many people living with metastatic cancer simply cannot because of the cost.”
