Event #274, Sunday July 5th

We had an impressive 36 finishers. Sunday of course was also the All Ireland hurling semi final between Limerick and Clare. We had a great turn out of Limerick jerseys but our regular Clare junior supporters must have been gone up to the match. As always Màire our photographer got a fabulous photo . 💚

Sunday morning saw new faces and we had 3 first timers Elsie, Matilda and Theo. Hoping you had a great morning and look forward to seeing you soon.

Milestones were also presented on the morning. Hollie received her half marathon wristband on top of a PB and being first lady home.
Alexandra and Ciaran received their marathon wristbands congratulations to all 3 on great achievements 👏 👏👏

We had 10 PBs this morning huge shout out to Peter, Charlie, Hollie, Tess, Ruairì, Nicholas, Sean Óg, Emer, Treasa and Charlie.

Every week we have an amazing team of volunteers. If anyone would like to volunteer any week our email is [email protected]

Many thanks as always to Catherine, Jack, Màire, Ann, Ollie, James, David, Cian, Helen, Enda, Declan, Màire, Pauline, Leah, Sam, Ian and Anna. Pauline our resident DJ and warmup leader as always got everyone rearing to go.

Good morning Shelbourne juniors! As you know by now, a large groups of our volunteer group went off on a little trip this weekend. After our our thoroughly enjoyable inaugural experience at Kilkenny parkrun last Christmas, we decided to go international for this one and our hospitable Welsh neighbours at Y Promenâd parkrun, Llandrillo-yn-Rhos did not let us down!

Our motley crew was a hybrid of parkrun nutters from Shelbourne junior parkrun Clarisford parkrun - Killaloe Illaunmanagh parkrun Limerick parkrun and Mungret parkrun and we had an absolute ball along the elegant, Victorian promenade of Llandudno for the weekend.

Watch this space for our next trip!

See you all Sunday 5th July for more running, walking and shooting the Shelbourne shadows!

We may be missing our regular slot on the north side of Limerick this weekend but we are kept busy and will be spreading the Shelbourne love this morning on the north side of Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇮🇪

Exciting news about this Sunday’s junior parkrun UK event, we are hosting a shared event whereby the awesome team from Shelbourne junior parkrun will be running the show!

Our crew will be there too and we hope as many of you can make it to welcome our awesome visitors! To mark the occasion we are inviting all attendees to wear Red or Green 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🤝🇮🇪

This is truly an occasion not to be missed 🥳

Good evening to all our Shelbourne juniors and all the mammies & daddies. A gentle reminder to everyone that we have no event this Sunday (28th June) due to a significant number of our core volunteer group heading off to Wales on a little parkrun trip. As luck would have it, it turns out to be a very suitable week for our little regulars to get a break 🥵 ☀️ 🥵 ☀️ 🥵 ☀️

We look forward to seeing you all again on Sun 5th July for Event #274 👋🏼

Shelbourne junior parkrun must be one of the best junior parkruns in Ireland! Yesterday we had a jam packed event #273

🌳Not one but two incredible 100 Junior parkrun milestone celebrations (cue RD near collapsing😱. I’m just not able for these surprises anymore😅) Aurelia, visiting us from the UK and regular Shelbourne parkrunner James, both proudly ran around the 2km course showing off their 100 Silver Wristbands. They have demonstrated their commitment to junior parkrun by enduring blistering winds and scorching sun, rain downpours and frosty mornings to take part in junior parkrun on a Sunday morning. When asked how did they manage to accomplish such a massive achievement, Aurelia said it was because of the nice people you meet at parkrun and James piped up his favourite part of parkrun was the breakfast afterwards. Hear hear, I couldn’t agree more guys!!

🌳More awesome milestones were celebrated too. Sarah earned her first milestone, the blue Half Marathon Wristband and sibling duo Lucy and Tom, along with Macy, collected their green Marathon Wristbands. Well done guys 👏👏👏

🌳Father days Special for all our Daddy cools😎. Dad dancing was spotted to the 80’s beats 🕺🎶😀. Tune approval provided by expert music volunteer Anna👏 Thank you Anna!

🌳James braved the microphone for the first time and welcomed our first timers Jack and Rose. Awesome stuff James and welcome Jack and Rose to our parkrun community. We hope you will join us again very soon.

🌳First runner home, Charlie, blew all away with his outstanding run. Incredible run from this young man earning himself a PB too.🔥 15 PBs were earned yesterday and considering the glorious sunshine and heat, this was truly stunning running guys.

🌳Incredible volunteers bringing the vibes as always . Thank you to Ann, Liz, Enda, Johnny, James, Niamh, Ian, Danielle, David, Declan, Caroline, Ciana, Jules, Anna and David. 🙌🙌. Also a big thank you and shout out to Ciana who is on holidays here from Australia and volunteered for the first time. 🦘🌏🐨.

🌳Off the charts energy for our Warm Up. Note to self, I must employ a DJ assistant to hold my phone as the speaker blew it off. We introduced a quick game of “freeze” until we were up and running again. Parkrun doesn’t have to be perfect, just fun😅😅.

🌳Summer Solstice day - Weather was so fire🔥…as the young kids say🙃

There is no event next week, Sunday 28th June, as us volunteers are on a parkrun summer trip.
See you all on Sunday 5th July for another trot around Shelbourne Park😀

Pauline.

A warm Shelbourne juniors welcome to our first timers this week; Shay, Cassie, Beth and Cara. We trust you’ve caught the junior parkrun bug and will be back Sunday for more!

On the run front, newcomer Peter celebrated back to back first finishes in a blistering 7:29! His twin brothers, Henry and Felix, also achieved personal best times on their second outing. There were 10 other PBs on the day including Billy, who celebrated his Half Marathon with a 25 second PB and a podium finish. Kudos also to Grace, Tom, Stephen, Eliana, Maisy, Seraph, Amee, Rosie and lastly Sam who PB’d while his Nan Catherine Keating volunteered! Maith sibh ar fad 👏🏼

Special mention this week to Clodagh who finishes every week with a broad white smile before heading back through the crowd to pick up her younger brother, Séamus. We see this week in week out from Clodagh and, for that reason, we decided to award her with a volunteer credit to acknowledge her kindness. This is the epitome of junior parkrun ♥️

On the volunteer front, one of our core team, Ollie Naughton, notched up his 300th volunteer credit last weekend. Ollie is ever present at both Shelbourne junior parkrun and Clarisford parkrun - Killaloe and we would be lost without his expertise and the calm he brings. Heartfelt thanks to you from us all Ollie, keep her lit 🙌🏼

Beir bua,

Ian.
