Monday Memories 🚲
Long before VeloWorx existed, cycling was already part of my family’s story.
This is my Great Uncle Lenny with his bike, many years ago. Looking at old photographs like this reminds me that while bikes have changed beyond recognition, the feeling they give us hasn’t.
Freedom.
Adventure.
Independence.
Those are the same reasons people still ride today.
It’s nice to think that, in a small way, I’m continuing something that started generations before me, helping people keep enjoying the same simple pleasure of getting out on two wheels.
Do you have any old family photos with bikes in them? I’d love to see them in the comments. 🚲📸

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you.
Every review means more than you probably realise.
VeloWorx is built almost entirely through word of mouth and recommendations, so every kind word helps another cyclist feel confident booking a service.
Whether it’s a quick puncture repair, a full overhaul or regular servicing, I genuinely appreciate every customer who trusts me with their bike.
A huge thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to leave a review. Your support helps keep this small local business rolling. 🙌🚴
If I’ve worked on your bike and you’d like to share your experience, a Google review always means a lot.
Have a great Sunday everyone, and enjoy the ride! 💛

We all have one…
The bike that was “only put away for the winter”…
…and somehow that turned into two years. 😅
The good news is that most bikes don’t need replacing. A proper service can usually get them running smoothly again, often for far less than the cost of a new bike.
Before you think about buying another bike, dust off the one you already own.
You might be surprised how good it can feel again. 🚲
What’s hiding in your garage at the moment? 👀

Feature Friday 🖤💛
One of the best parts of last week’s post was seeing the incredible stories people shared about the bikes they’ve owned over the years.
Diarmuid kindly got in touch afterwards and shared photos from his remarkable collection of historic bicycles, including this beautifully restored 1924 Golden Sunbeam. He also owns several other rare machines dating back to the early 1900s, all helping to keep a piece of cycling history alive.
A huge thank you to Diarmuid for allowing us to share these photos with everyone.
It just goes to show that some bikes are far more than a way to get from A to B. They carry history, memories and incredible craftsmanship.
If you owned one of these classics, would you restore it to showroom condition, or preserve its original patina and history? We’d love to hear what you’d do. 👇🚲

One of the most common things I see isn’t a chain that’s too dry…
It’s a chain drowning in oil.
Excess l**e attracts dirt and grit, turning your chain into grinding paste that wears out your drivetrain much faster.
The trick isn’t using more lubricant.
It’s using the right amount, wiping off the excess and keeping everything clean.
Your chain should feel lubricated, not wet.

Brake pads are one of the cheapest parts on your bike… but leaving them too long can become an expensive mistake.
Once the braking material wears away, the metal backing plate starts grinding directly against your brake rotor.
That can:
• Damage the rotor beyond repair.
• Reduce braking performance.
• Create horrible grinding noises.
• Turn a simple brake pad replacement into a much bigger repair bill.
A quick inspection takes seconds and could save you money.
Not sure how your pads are looking? I can check them during any service.

Tiny passenger. Big future. 🚲👶
Long before I could ride a bike, I was already travelling on one.
Apparently I was quite happy to spend hours in the child seat… as long as I could have a nap every now and then! 😴
Looking back, it’s funny to think that those early rides would eventually lead to racing, coaching, running a bike shop and now bringing professional bike servicing directly to people’s homes with VeloWorx.
Some passions really do start young.
Were you the child in the bike seat, or the parent doing all the pedalling? 🚴

Monday Memories 🚲
Before I ever raced bikes, built bikes or repaired them, I was riding on the back of my parents’ touring bike.
We spent years travelling, and some of my earliest memories are from roads like this, watching the world roll by from a child seat.
Looking back now, it’s funny how those adventures shaped everything that came afterwards.
A lifetime later, I’m still lucky enough to spend my days working with bikes, just in a different way.
Sometimes the journey really does come full circle.
What’s your earliest cycling memory?

Sundays aren’t always about going faster.
Sometimes they’re about taking the quiet road, stopping for a coffee, riding with friends, or simply clearing your head after a busy week.
Wherever your bike took you today, I hope you got the chance to enjoy the ride.
If your bike isn’t feeling quite as good as it should, you know where to find me during the week. 😉
Hope you had a great Sunday everyone, and enjoyed the miles. 🚴☀️

Every bike has a story.
Some have crossed mountains, some have commuted thousands of kilometres, and some have been sitting in the shed waiting for “I’ll sort it next weekend”… for the last five years. 😅
What’s the oldest bike you still own?
Even better, post a photo in the comments. I’d love to see what’s still out there!
👇 Let’s see them.
