The opening fixtures of this season's Donegal League campaign have been announced, and it's a tough opener for our Sunday team in their first game back in Division 1 following last season's promotion.

Jockey Wilson's men will kick off with a visit to Ballybofey United before hosting Gweedore Celtic a week later.

Ryan McDaid's Saturday team will host Glenea United in their opener, before a trip to Dunlewey a week later.

Milford progress after extra time

Milford United 3 Swilly Rovers 2

A cracking derby match to kick off the season today in Swilly park with Milford progressing with a goal late in Extra time.

Joey Cullen had scored in the first half to equalise after Lawrence Toland had given Swilly the lead from free kick.
Swilly took the lead shortly after half time from an O.g and with the game looking gone, Flynn Nash fired home in the 91st Minute to pull Milford level.

Milford piled the pressure on during extra time and were rewarded when substitute Mark mc Cleary's cross was deflected into his own net by the swilly Centre back.

Milford now face Letterkenny Rovers next sunday in the BMC cup semi final.

Keadue Rovers 3-0 Gweedore Utd
Keadue Rovers got their season up and running in the Voodoo Cup with this well deserved win over Gweedore Utd in nice conditions at Central Park on Saturday. Keadue, fielding a much changed side from last year, were quick out of the blocks, getting a few early chances in and gaining most of the territory and possession. The home side took the lead on the quarter hour mark, when a corner, well delivered by Liam Ferry was met by the head of Evan McFadden for a lead goal. They continued to press Gweedore Utd, despite having to replace a player early on in the game. Keadue’s keeper James McEniff, making his senior debut in goals had to be alert to a few of the visitors shots. Keadue increased their lead just before the half hour, after the Gweedore keeper came out to clear the ball, it fell to Cian McGee, who chested the ball down and rifled home a superb volley to an empty net for 2-0 and gave Keadue a cushion at half time. Gweedore did start the second half on the front foot and forced a number of free kicks and corners and again McEniff was alert to the threat. Keadue, through some substitutes had fresh legs and managed to hit on the break and this was to be way the third and clinching goal was to be. From a Gweedore corner, the ball broke to Oran Gallagher on the left wing, he found Cian McGee, who laid on a fine pass to the onrushing Liam Ferry, who passed the ball into the net to seal the game on eighty minutes.
Overall, a convincing win for the home side, who now move into the semi finals and in doing so, had five youth players starting this game, another good sign and for whom Cian McGee, Logan O’Donnell and Liam Ferry stood out.

Strand Rovers 4-3 Arranmore United

Perfect conditions in Strand Park for the first game of the season as Strand hosted Arranmore in the first stage of the Voodoo Venue Cup. Arranmore got their names on the score sheet first when a soft penalty was given away by Strand and Brian Proctor made no mistake from 12 yards and dispatched it coolly in to the bottom left corner.
Less than a minute later Strand were back on level terms with a long range strike from Oisin McKelvey beat the Arranmore keeper Frankie Early (Rua) curling in past him at his far post to leave it 1-1 at half-time Strand came out in the second half and took the lead when a shot from a Jordan Saville free stung Ruas hands and the ball fell, with Mickey Curran the quickest to react he put the ball in the back of the net.
Strand then went two goals ahead when another Jordan Saville free kick went directly into the back of the net giving Rua no chance to save it. The goal of the game came when Strand played lovely football as Mark Brennan was played through, only to be denied by a great save by Rua. But ut the ball fell to Saville and he played it wide to Mark Brennan who floated a lovely shot into the far top corner.
Aran then got one back when a shot/cross by Cian Boyle from the top of the Strand box found its way through the whole box and into the bottom corner. Arran piled on the pressure and it paid off as they broke down the left wing and pulled the ball back to the edge of the 6 yard box and was tapped into the back of the net by Paul Early. Game on!
Aran pushed for an equalizer but there just wasn’t enough time on the clock for them to push it into extra time and Strand advance into the semi final.

Letterkenny Rovers 4-4 Fanad Utd
A very even game with loads of goals and it was Rovers who went in at half time with a 3-2 lead with goals from Nathan Bonner and a brace from Daragh Morrison, Second half saw Fanad dominate the game and went 4-3 up after 80 minutes but Rovers got an equaliser on the 85th minute with a 25 yard drive from Alex McDevitt to put the game in to extra time
Extra time ended 5-5 so penalties it went to which saw Rovers win 6-5
Drumoghill 0-2 Ballybofey
Cian Thompson and Colin Kearns got the goals that mattered as Ballybofey won this contest in the Voodoo Cup. Both struck during the late stages of the first half of a game that was even for for most of it's duration. Drumoghill did threaten during the second half when Calum McLaughlin and Jordan Rodgers both forced saves from the Ballybofey goalkeeper. Referee: Gerard Devine.
Drumkeen United 7 - 8 Convoy Arsenal (after extra time)
This Voodoo venue Cup game provided a feast of goals in what was probably the highest scoring adult game ever seen at St Patrick's Park. Drumkeen didn't start very well and could have been a goal behind when McConnell saw his effort saved by Drumkeen keeper Henderson and it deflected onto the post. Convoy went ahead shortly after when some indecision allowed Eunan Kelly to nip in and score. Lee Guthrie got Drumkeen back level with a good finish after a great pass from Cathal Browne played him in.
Drumkeen settled a bit then and went ahead with a long range free kick from Lee Guthrie. McConnell equalised for Convoy and we had four goals and still under half an hour on the clock. Eunan Kelly added two more goals for the visitors to put them 4- 2 a head at the break.
Cathal Browne nearly pulled a goal back for Drumkeen early in the second half with a header. Drumkeen were them awarded a penalty which was well dispatched by Lee Guthrie to reduce the deficit to one goal. Convoy then went up the other end and Zvorc added another goal for them. Lee Guthrie then found himself in a one on one situation and he rounded the keeper and calmly put it in the empty net. Eunan Kelly added another couple of goals and at 7-4 it looked like game over for the home team. Drumkeen however were not finished yet and a Lee Guthrie penalty reduced the deficit.a little bit. A great strike from Ryan James got them back within a goal before Lee Guthrie got an equaliser after a good set up from Gavin Bonner just before full time. And so we went to extra time which didn't live up to normal time in terms of goals. The only goal of extra time and what proved to be the winning goal was headed home by Eunan Kelly about 10 minutes into the first half. Drumkeen kept battling away but couldn't come up with another equaliser. Neither manager will be happy with the defending on view in this game but it was an entertaining enough game to watch as you always thought there would be another goal coming soon.On the day it was a shoot out between Lee Guthrie and Eunan Kelly, they ended up with five goals each. If this is a sign of things to come there could be plenty of goals in St Patrick's Park this season. This game was played in a good sporting manner and well handled by referee Paddy McCauley.
Kilmacrennan 3-2 Swilly
Kilmac progress to next round of Voodoo Cup after an extra time winner from new signing Lenny Kawasa. Kilmac took lead on eight min through Eoin Sheridan and he calmly finished inside the box. Swilly equalised from Richie Moore on 15 minutes and then took lead on 25 minutes from Durning. Kilmac got level on 60 minutes when Mark Patteson scored after good work from his brother Luke put him through 1 on 1 and he tucked it away. Lenny Kawasa won it for Kilmac in extra time and new signing used his pace to break through and fired home from 10 yards. Best for Kilmac Eoin Sheridan and team effort from Swilly Rovers.
Glencar Celtic 3-0 Ramelton Mariners
In a match played at Letterkenny Community Centre, Glencar Celtic took the lead in the 36th minute when Ultan McMonagle scored from a Pajo Rafferty pass. Glencar doubled their lead in the 70th minute when Jack Dwyer converted a pinpoint McMonagle cross. McMonagle was the provider again in the 80th minute when Marc Casey converted from close range.
Best for Glencar: Ultan McMonagle, Jack Dwyer, Caolan Fox.

Donegal Town 3-2 Fintown Harps
Donegal Town welcomed Fintown Harps to Killymard for the Voodoo Cup first round. Donegal started strong when Calum Dorrian squared the ball to Sean Meehan who put his shot just wide of the post. Town pressed hard for an opener and Tom Cutts found the net with an acrobatic overhead kick from a corner to put Donegal one up. Shortly after Jamie McMonagle took it around two defenders and passed the ball across the keeper into the net to put Donegal two to the good. Just before half time a slip in the Donegal defence created an opening for the Fintown captain who capitalised well and made it 2-1 at the break.
Fintown started the better team for the second half and applied a lot of pressure to the Town goals. An under hit back pass left the Fintown winger an opportunity to round the keeper and leave the score 2-2. With 20 minutes to play Jamie McMonagle picked the ball up out wide cut inside his man and sent a shot flying into the top corner to score his second of the day. Donegal stood strong for the remainder of the game and with two minutes left had the keeper Liam Slattery to thank when he pulled off a superb save.
Thomas Healy and Jamie McMonagle best performers on the day but with the two goals scored Jamie pips him for Player of the Match. Great to see so many of our youth team involved in the panel today and debuts for Liam and Callum.
Before the game Aaron Slevin from Biddys presented Donegal Town with their lovely new Saturday kit. Massive thanks to Gareth for organising the kit and to Aaron and all in Biddys for their generous contribution to the club.
Kildrum 3–0 Lagan Harps
Kildrum, started their Voodoo Cup campaign as the reigning cup holders, got off to the perfect start with a dominant 3–0 win over Lagan Harps. Brett McGinty opened the scoring with a header just before half-time. Corey McBride chipped the keeper to make it 2–0, before Aaron Temple added a third. Sean Friel pulled off an excellent second-half save to secure the clean sheet. A commanding start from the defending champions

Senior Mens Football Returns...

2026/27 season is upons us and with that we are delighted to say we have two Senior Mens teams competing this year.

Today sees our Senior Sunday face off with Lifford Celtic in Green Brae Park at one o'clock , in the Brian McCormick Cup.
After their Division One League win last season they will be looking to add another level to development this year.

Monday Night sees our Saturday Mens team re enter the Saturday league set up after a long spell out.
They will travel to Castlefin Celtic on Monday night with a 7.30pm kick off in the Vodoo Cup.

The revival of the Saturday team is testament to the ongoing underage structure in the club.With player development at the core of its values.
The Sunday teams ongoing sucess has also help recruit a few of our past underage players to regroup and rejoin the fold.

We wish both teams well, along with their management and coaches.

A busy season ahead for these boys so get out and support them on their journeys.
