London Masters’ season came to an end on Saturday as Cork Masters progressed to the All-Ireland Plate Final following a hard fought semi final in Avanough, Laois.

It was a cagey opening, with both sides taking time to settle into the contest. Kenny O’Connor and Lorcan Mulvey with scores for London as the sides traded scores with Cork, leaving the game finely balanced at 2-2.

The first key moment came when Vinny Murphy found the net with a well taken goal to give London some breathing space. A further point from PJ Meehan saw London lead 1-3 to 0-3 at the first water break.

Cork responded well in the second quarter, working a couple of well constructed scores, but London kept their noses in front with another Kenny O’Connor free and a point from Paul McDermott.

At half-time, London held a narrow 1-5 to 0-6 advantage.

The second half began with both teams battling to gain control. Cork edged closer with a couple of early points, but another O’Connor score ensured London remained in front.

London then looked to have regained control when Peter Downey won possession around midfield and fed Lorcan Mulvey, who produced a superb long range point. It would have been a two pointer under the new rules, but on this occasion it was worth just the one.

Rather than deflating Cork, however, the score appeared to spark them into life. The Munster side produced a purple patch, hitting 1-2 before the next water break to turn the game on its head. London now found themselves trailing 1-7 to 1-10.

Cork finished the game strongly and began to dominate possession, with London’s backs having to work tirelessly to keep them at bay.

Danny Ryan led an admirable defensive effort, but Cork were increasingly finding their spare men and creating opportunities for a number of well worked points.

London battled to the very end, with JP O’Donnell adding a late point, but Cork had done enough and eventually ran out 1-14 to 1-8 winners.

Congratulations to Cork Masters on reaching the cup Final, and best of luck to them in the final.

London Masters 0-9 Wicklow Masters 0-7

London Masters returned to winning ways on Saturday with a hard earned 0-9 to 0-7 victory over Wicklow Masters at Whitehall Colmcille, played in glorious sunshine in the shadow of Dublin Airport.

It wasn't a game for the purists, with both sides guilty of plenty of wides in a scrappy, hard fought encounter. However, London showed plenty of grit and determination to get the job done.

The sides were level at the break on 0-5 apiece, setting up an intriguing second half. London tightened up defensively after the restart and took their chances when they came to edge clear and see out a deserved victory.

🏐 Brendan Friel – 0-1
🏐 Kevin Clarke – 0-1

There were excellent performances all over the field. Mossey Hodnett was outstanding at wing-back, covering every blade of grass and breaking up countless Wicklow attacks.

A special mention also goes to stand in goalkeeper PJ Meehan, who stepped in brilliantly and produced an assured display between the posts, making several important interventions throughout the afternoon.

A huge thank you to Wicklow Masters for another competitive game played in great spirit, and to Whitehall Colmcille for their excellent hospitality and facilities.

GMA Football All-Ireland Championship 2026 – Round 4 Review

The Championship Comes Alive!

If anyone thought they knew how the 2026 GMA Football All-Ireland Championship would unfold after three rounds, Round 4 had other ideas.

With All Ireland places beginning to loom on the horizon, counties took to the field knowing that every score, every tackle and every point could shape their championship destiny. The result? Another unforgettable weekend of Masters Football.

Three Counties Still Standing

Donegal, Dublin and Monaghan continue to lead the charge, each maintaining a flawless record with four wins from four. Their consistency has been remarkable, but with one round remaining, nothing has been won yet. Every one of them knows that one off day could change everything.

The Chasing Pack Refuse to Go Away

Kerry and Waterford remain unbeaten and sit just one point behind the leaders after sharing the spoils in an absorbing contest in London and edging another crucial victory respectively.

Derry, Galway, Meath and Roscommon all sit on six points after another dramatic weekend. The championship table is so finely balanced that one final league fixture could completely reshuffle the standings.

Round 4 Delivered Everything

Supporters witnessed high-scoring encounters, thrilling finishes and some outstanding individual performances across the country.

Monaghan produced one of the performances of the weekend with a commanding victory over Louth, while Donegal showed once again why they are genuine championship contenders by overcoming a determined Sligo side.

Dublin and Meath served up another classic rivalry, with Dublin emerging victorious in a contest worthy of the occasion.

Galway continued their impressive run by overcoming Mayo, Derry's powerful attacking display proved too much for Cavan, while Tyrone, Armagh, Limerick, Roscommon, Waterford, Laois and Leitrim/Longford all collected valuable victories.

Every Point Matters

The race at the top is tighter than ever, the middle of the table is packed with counties capable of beating anyone on their day, while every team still has pride, momentum and championship ambitions to play for.

Masters football continues to prove why it is one of the most competitive and entertaining competitions in Gaelic Games. The quality, commitment and passion shown by every county has been exceptional.

The road to the knockout stages is now in full view.

Who will secure advantage?

Who will sneak into the qualification places?

Who will produce one last dramatic twist?

Round 5 promises to answer those questions.

The London Masters hosted their second annual Golf Day yesterday at Mill Hill Golf Club, and it was a fantastic success. Even the odd rain shower couldn’t dampen the spirits.
