It was a bright, sunny and calm morning there were 6 cyclists out for for the Group 4 Sunday spin. Some of the group opting to cycle with legends Sean Kelly & Stephen Roche on the three counties spin starting in Limerick. We headed out the N72 to the Welcome Inn where we turned right through Modeligo and onto Halfway before tuning left to head through Ballymacarbry and left again on the road for Newcastle. There was a small  mistake initially turning right instead of straight through Newcastle, we continued towards Goatenbridge to Clogheen for the stop. Basking in the autumn sunshine we refuelled and took a quick photo before it was time to get back on the bikes and tackle The Vee. A steady drag taken at our own pace we regrouped at the top and descended into Lismore where we were joined by two other cyclists for the last leg back to Dungarvan via Cappoquin and the Bog Road. A good spin of 100Km for September.
Congratulations to Danny, Tony, Ger & Howard on completing the 730Km spin from Mizen to Mailin with Cycle against Su***de last weekend - a huge achievement.

Group 3 spin report
On a beautiful dry and sunny autumnal morning 7 headed west towards Lismore before tackling the 11km Col De Ballysaggart…
Dropping down to Araglen and crossing the border into the Rebel County where we were greeted by a stray dog…
Heading towards the outskirts of Kilworth we swung a left and back towards the Deise where we stopped at Lottie and Ellie’s for ☕️🍰
This was our first time stopping here but certainly won’t be our last as it is a beautiful cafe …
Back on the saddle we made light work of the spin home via Villierstown and the Brickey Valley…⚫️🟠
Overall a most enjoyable spin in perfect conditions covering 103km @ 28.4kph 👍🚴🏻‍♂️

G5 had 8 out on a lovely warm Sunday. They headed out the Bog Road, Dromana, Cappoquin where three decided to go directly to Lismore while the other five went by Deerpark to the coffee stop at The Vault. After a lovely break they all headed back to Dungarvan by Cappoquin, Kilmolash, and the Bog Road. A lovely 60 km at an average of 21km.

Everyone at Dungarvan Cycling Club wishes former member and long-time friend & affiliate David Gaffney the very best of luck as he takes on the U23 UCI Road World Cycling Championships in Québec, Canada next week🌍🇨🇦

A very proud moment for everyone who has followed David’s cycling journey who has already taken a bronze medal at the European championships at junior level.

And another reason to be proud, David worked with our club Chairman Marc Flavin as coach for a number of years— so huge congratulations to both of them. 👏 Marc and the committee of course, are still recovering from a very successful Masters Road Race Championships in Kilmac last weekend🚴‍♂️

Best of luck, David — Dungarvan will be cheering you on! 🇮🇪💪

Saturday Spin:

9.00 am Killrush.
Old Parish, Ardmore, Knockanore, Lismore,coffee, Cappoquin, bog road, 95 kms, mixed group, steady pace, all welcome.

Sunday

G5 9.00am civic office, Bog Road, Dromana, Cappoquin, Deerpark, Lismore (coffee), home by Cappoquin, Kilmolash and the Bog Road. There is an alternative to go directly to Lismore from Cappoquin. The pace will be nice and gentle.

Group 4: 9am at the Civic Offices
Dungarvan Welcome Inn - Modeligo  - Halfway  - Ballymacarbry - Newcastle - Clogheen ☕️ - The Vee - Lismore  - Cappoquin  - Kilmolash  - Bog Road  - Dungarvan 98Km

🚴 NATIONAL MASTERS ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 🚴

What a weekend! The club was proud to host the National Masters Road Race Championships, welcoming 198 entries from all over the country.

A huge thank you to the Village of Kilmacthomas for hosting the event — without the support of the village, an event of this scale simply couldn't have happened.

We also couldn't have put on such a fantastic day without the guidance of Cycling Ireland and our own Marc Flavin. Thank you both for your invaluable support.

Thanks too to everyone who came out to help with marshalling and driving support vehicles — your time and effort didn't go unnoticed and made all the difference.

A special thanks also goes to O'Reilly's Traditional Butchers, D. Kirwan/Mulhearne Foodstore "Danny's", Eamo & Ró, the Kilmacthomas Social Enterprise Group, and Waterford City & County Council for their ongoing support on the day.

Over the course of the day, we ran four races: 🏁 M50/M55 🏁 M60/M65/M70 🏁 M40/M45 🏁 WM40/WM50

Every category came out, raced hard, and enjoyed the course!
