We had our first game of the season in sunny Alaska this morning v Kilmacow. The game started out even enough, but before long Kilmacow got comfortable on the ball.
Kilmacow started to get a foothold in the game and put pressure on our defense to open the scoring after 10 minutes.
With Kilmacow being a bit more physical than us they continued to press us and followed with a few more goals.
We started much better in the second half and we pressed Kilmacow on few occasions, creating a couple of chances and winning corners. We got a couple shots off but Kilmacow were up to it.
With us pressing and pursuing our goal, Kilmacow once again caught us on the counter.

Special thanks to Una and Emma for standing in goal today as our regular keepers were unfortunately not available.

U12D League Result: Kilmac 4: Park Rangers FC 0

First home game of the season this morning, and for most of the team, their very first time playing “Alaska park”. The boys started well, putting pressure on from the whistle. Same as last game, this pressure led to several corners being awarded our way. And from one of these corners, crossed in again beautifully by Riain, with Ryan coming up from the backs, and landing the ball in the back of the net. One up in the 12th minute. The boys repositioned again. We had great communication and marking from the backs Alex, Ryan and Tyler and great possession play from the midfield with Jack, Louis and Olly. Working the ball well between them, and creating plenty of chances with Riain and Ger linking up well with some near goals, leaving not much in the first 20 minutes for Kilian to do in goal. It was from one of the chances from Park Rangers in the 23th minute, that Kilian ended up with the ball, and with the wind in his favour, kicked a long ball, and ended up in the Park Rangers net! 2 up going in at half time.

James came on in place of Louis at the start of the second half and gave a great contribution in midfield. Kilmac started the second half with the same energy as they started the first, and some great moves from Jack ended up with him scoring in the 2nd minute of the second half. Kilmac continued to press for more goals, and it was Riain up the wing who secured the fourth goal for Kilmac. Odi came on for Alex in the middle of the second half and kept the strength in the defence. Tadgh couldn’t play today due to injury but hopefully will be back for the next match.

An excellent first home game result.

Club meeting next Tuesday at 7pm in the Kilmacthomas Business Centre, Union Road. The club has a lot done over the last 12 months and now we want to set out the next steps in the development of the club, so all are welcome to come along and we can plan for the future. New faces, new ideas and new energy are always welcome.

Our U11C League Team got their home campaign off to a start against a visiting Kilmacow side on a fine day for a match. The scoreline might suggest a one sided affair but this was far from it. The first half was tight, both teams had chances but Harry in our goal was up to the task and the visiting keeper also made some smart saves. 0-0 at half time. The game opened up in the second half and pressure from Kilmacthomas paid off as Cal took on the defence to score. The lead didn't last long and Kilmacow came back into it to equalise. We continued to press but Kilmacow managed to score 3 more quick goals leaving us a mountain to climb. We never gave up and had several chances before Tom was fouled for a penalty which he put away nicely. We even manged a few more half chances but it wasn't to be with the game finishing 2-4. A tough loss to take but they will come back stronger.

Match report U13C

Mooncoin 5

Our u13s set out for our season opener today at home to mooncoin.

Mooncoin started on the front foot and put our defence to the test early on. We conceded a corner and they opened the scoring and soon after a good strike from a mooncoin player they added a second.

The girls settled after this and we had some good spells pushing forward but the mooncoin defence we able to keep us from breaking through.
A scramble in the box saw us concede just before halftime.
HALTIME 3-0

Our halftime team talk really spurred the girls on in the second half with them getting much tighter to players and pushing to get that goal.

With our defence battling hard, mooncoin pressed once again for their 4th goal with our keeper getting a great hand to it but unfortunately sneaked in. Mooncoin scored just on full time whistle and the game ended 5-0.

Our defence were busy today but did some fantastic work and our midfield pushed to create some chances and our forwards worked hard and never gave up trying for that goal.

U16b girls league.
Kilmac 3, Bohs 3.
Our u16 girls began their league campaign this afternoon with a home fixture against Bohs. Kilmac settled well and were on top early on. We took the lead when Lacey Veale ran on to a long ball from Natalie Barry on 16mins, Lacey then become provider, when Sophie Grant got on the end of her corner kick. Bohs got back in the game 3mins later when they scored from a penalty on 22mins and levelled the game 3mins later from a corner kick. With both teams giving their all, space was hard to find, but Sophie Grant got away on 39mins to put us back in front. Half time 3.2.
The second half saw big efforts from both teams, with both defences on top chances were hard to come by. Tireless running from Leah o Donnell forced a couple of chances but the visitors keeper was equal to our efforts. Bohs equalised on 50mins from yet another dangerous corner and held firm for the remainder of the game as Kilmac went in search of the winner.
Final Score 3-3.
Hannah Lowe in goal had an excellent game, couldn't be faulted for any of the goals, our defence of Ava Wall, Eve o Shea, Natalie Barry, Abbey Tobin and Lacey Veale had to be alert throughout and dealt really well with everything as the game went on, Emmie Power, Ciara Whelan, Robyn Kirwan and Leah o Donnell worked tirelessly in midfield , and Sophie Grant was a willing runner up front in attacking and defending. Well done to all the girls, A draw was probably a fair result on the day.
