💚East Kerry U13 League Final 🤍

The final game of the East Kerry League took place this evening for our U13 boys, with Firies making the trip to Johnny Culloty Park on a glorious summer evening.

Firies got off to a strong start, kicking some fine early scores and putting our defence under pressure with their high intensity, forcing a number of turnovers which they made full use of. Our lads gradually settled into the game before the first water break, began to find their rhythm, and responded well with some excellent scores of their own.

A number of our younger players were introduced in the second half and all made a big impression, putting in huge work rates and showing great determination throughout.

Firies rallied again in the third quarter and had our lads under serious pressure, asking plenty of questions of the team. To their credit, the boys dug deep, responded brilliantly, and finished strongly by kicking the last few points of the game.

Our U13 boys travelled to Rathmore on Monday evening for their third game of the East Kerry League.

The hosts made a strong start, taking full advantage early on with some excellent teamwork and accurate finishing. To their credit, our lads stayed in the game, worked hard throughout and chipped away with some fine scores of their own, but Rathmore held the advantage at the break.

Legion came out with renewed energy in the second half, enjoying more possession and converting some well-worked scores. However, Rathmore responded well, reasserting their dominance and finishing with some excellent scores to secure the win.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives for our boys. They battled right to the final whistle and never gave up. We have struggled to field a full squad in this competition due to injuries, but the younger players who have stepped up have been outstanding, ensuring we have fulfilled our fixtures while gaining valuable experience.

A big thank you to Rathmore for their hospitality and for a very sporting game, played in great spirit. Thanks also to referee Evan Horan, who officiated the game excellently throughout.

Senior Ladies County League

Our Senior Ladies welcomed Corca Dhuibhne to Johnny Culloty Park on Monday evening for what promised to be a tough County League encounter, with both sides well placed in the league standings.

Playing under the new ladies football rules for the first time, it was the visitors who adapted quickest, racing into a 1-03 to 0-01 lead by the end of the opening quarter. Corca Dhuibhne took control in the second quarter, building a commanding advantage to lead comfortably at the break.

To our girls’ credit, the response after half-time was excellent. We outscored the visitors in the third quarter and matched them over the second half, showing great character and determination, but the damage had been done before the interval.

A memorable moment on the night saw former Kerry star Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh register the first-ever two-point score in ladies football at Johnny Culloty Park.

Congratulations to Corca Dhuibhne on their deserved victory, and thanks to referee Dan Hayes for an excellent performance, keeping players informed and helping everyone adapt to the new rules throughout the game.

We finish our league campaign away to Laune Rangers next Monday, while we also await fixture details for our postponed game against Abbeydorney.

💚🤍Our U8 boys welcomed John Mitchels to JC Park this morning for three fantastic Go Games played in glorious sunshine.

It was a brilliant morning of football with great skill, teamwork and sportsmanship on display from both clubs. Most importantly, everyone enjoyed themselves and had plenty of fun.

🏐Kilcummin 2-8

Our U16 Boys opened their County League Division 1A campaign this evening with a hard-fought draw against neighbours Kilcummin in very challenging wet conditions at Johnny Culloty Park.

The lads made a bright start, scoring the opening two points, but Kilcummin responded with an impressive spell, hitting 2-3 without reply. To their credit, our boys showed great character and determination to battle back, reducing the deficit to just two points at the break, with Kilcummin leading 2-4 to 0-8.

The second half was another fiercely contested affair. Legion continued to play excellent football and edged in front in the closing stages. Kilcummin levelled matters soon after, and although we had one final opportunity to sn**ch victory, we couldn’t quite create the shooting chance as the game finished all square.

A huge thank you to Kilcummin for a sporting and entertaining contest, and to referee Pádraig O’Sullivan for his excellent officiating.

Unfortunately, during the first half, our midfielder Kieran Moloney suffered a shoulder injury. Everyone in the team and club wishes Kieran a full and speedy recovery. We would also like to sincerely thank Dr. Rosemary Kelliher for the outstanding medical care she provided to Kieran following the injury.

Well done to all the players on a spirited performance. The future is bright! 💚🤍

Killarney Outlook

Our u13 boys played their second game in the u13 Eastkerry league this evening against Glenflesk.

Glenflesk missing a few of their regulars took to the field against the boys in White and Green. With the aid of a strong beeeze Legion took the lead and produced good scores to lead at the half time whistle Glenflesk looked lively at the start of the second half and with the breeze helped them to some good scores from distance.

Our lads kept up the scores at the other end also with several players getting on the score sheet.
