Fifteen years ago, I became a Personal Trainer. Today, is the third movement studio I’ve built—but this time, I’m building it together with my husband, Viktor. 💛

We’ve never had investors behind us, and I’ve certainly never become rich from this job - mostly because every euro I earned somehow found its way back into another course, qualification or the studio itself. 😅

But while we’ve never had unlimited funds, we’ve always had a very clear vision.

We never wanted to create an exclusive boutique studio. We wanted an inclusive space where women of all ages, abilities and life stages feel comfortable walking through the door. A safe space where nobody worries about keeping up, and movement is adapted to the person - not the other way around.

Before our summer break, I told our members we were going to renovate. Most looked around and said:

“But Gina…it’s already beautiful.”

And they were right.

We didn’t renovate because we no longer loved the studio, but because we could imagine it feeling even warmer and more welcoming.

That’s why our new waiting area looks more like a living room than a reception. We want people to arrive, sit down with a cuppa, take a breath and begin to feel at home before class even starts.

There was no interior designer or unlimited budget. Just Viktor and me, browsing Marketplace and summer sales, debating benches and lamps, drawing sketches - and then working flat out for six days to make it happen.

Every wall, shelf and piece of furniture was painted, built or assembled by the two of us.

Now IRIE is beginning a new chapter: a refreshed studio, new timetable, new booking and membership system, Saturday classes and a new website coming soon.

If you’ve been thinking about trying IRIE, our new member offer lets you experience three different classes for just €19 before deciding whether we’re the right fit for you.

Because the waiting room isn’t really the point. The point is that, from the moment you walk through our door, we hope you’ll feel what we’ve worked so hard to create:

A place where you belong. 💛

DM me the word TRIAL to get started.

Last night, after a very long journey, our 6-year-old looked at us and said:
“Let’s play 20 Questions! Dad, you have to think of something, because Mum always thinks about coffee.” 😅
I felt slightly exposed. ☕😂
If you’re somewhere around the menopausal transition and you feel like coffee has become your best friend just to get through the day… you’re definitely not alone.
Persistent tiredness isn’t “just getting older,” and it’s not something you simply have to accept. There are evidence-based ways to support your body through this stage - with the right type of exercise, nutrition, recovery, and understanding of what’s actually happening hormonally.

That’s exactly why I created a specialist menopause support programme at IRIE – The Joyful Movement Studio. One part of this is our 2.5-hour Menopause & Strength Workshop, designed to help you better understand your changing body and give you practical, evidence-based strategies you can start using straight away.
📅 Friday, 21 August – 5:30 pm
📅 Sunday, 6 September – 9:15 am
📍 IRIE – The Joyful Movement Studio
Hebron Industrial Estate, Kilkenny • R95 RDT3
Your investment is €49. As one of our former participants summed it up:
❤️ “This was definitely the best €49 I’ve ever spent on my health.”
Places are intentionally kept small to allow plenty of discussion and time for individual questions.
If you’d like to understand your body better, feel stronger, and leave with practical tools you can actually use, I’d love to welcome you.

There are artists whose work you admire. And then there are those who become part of your life.

When I arrived in Ireland, just a few months later some Camino friends asked me to translate an Irish documentary into Hungarian. I had no idea that saying yes to that project would change me.

For weeks, I lived with The Camino Voyage. I watched every scene over and over again. Stop. Play. Rewind. Stop. Play. Wrestling with the Kerry accent, scripting and translating every single word.

During those intense weeks, these men became my heroes. They weren't simply rowing a traditional naomhóg across the Atlantic. They were telling a story about the Irish soul - its light and its darkness, its resilience, its determination, its beautiful stubbornness - and about a journey that, in truth, never really ends.

And that was when I fell in love with Glen Hansard.

The Camino Voyage has stayed with me ever since. Beautiful. Enchanting. Inspiring. Heartbreaking. A film that somehow manages to be both deeply Irish and profoundly universal.

Today, like so many others, I'm heartbroken to hear that Glen Hansard is gone.

If there is one thing I could ask you to watch in memory of this extraordinary man, it would be The Camino Voyage. Not only for the music, but for the generosity, humanity and quiet courage that run through every frame.

Some journeys never end.

Thank you, Glen.

There are moments that quietly remind you why you do what you do.

Seeing myself in the pages of the Irish Independent this week was one of them.

Not because my photo appeared in a national newspaper, but because I had the opportunity to speak about something that has shaped so much of both my personal life and my professional journey.

I spoke not only as a fitness professional, but also as someone living with PCOS, about one of the biggest changes our community has seen in years: the renaming of Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS).

For me, this change means far more than a new acronym. It finally acknowledges what so many women have known and experienced for years: this is not simply an ovarian condition. It is a complex endocrine and metabolic disorder that can affect the whole body.

I also hope it marks the beginning of a shift away from the weight-centred conversations that have left so many women feeling dismissed, unheard, or blamed. Too many have walked away from medical appointments feeling that the conversation ended before it had really begun - as if a number on the scales could explain years of symptoms, frustration and unanswered questions.

Before moving to Ireland, I spent years working almost exclusively with women living with PCOS and insulin resistance in my studio in Budapest. Although today my work spans every stage of a woman’s life - from pregnancy and postpartum to menopause - PMOS remains incredibly close to my heart.

This conversation certainly doesn’t end with one newspaper article. Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing more workshops and evidence-based training programmes dedicated specifically to women living with PMOS, because every woman deserves to understand what’s happening in her body—and to be met with curiosity, compassion and evidence, rather than judgement.

A huge thank you to the Irish Independent for helping bring this important conversation to a wider audience.

Bye bye PCOS, hello PMOS 🤍

Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) is now being referred to as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. This change reflects what this condition really is: a complex endocrine and metabolic condition affecting the whole body — not “just cysts”, not “just lose weight”, and definitely not “come back when you want a baby and we’ll sort it then.”

The new name — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome — matters because it reflects something many women have known for years: this condition goes far beyond the ovaries and cysts. It can affect metabolism, cardiovascular health, mental wellbeing, fertility, sleep, energy levels, inflammation, and so much more.

As someone who was diagnosed with PCOS at 20 and struggled with many aspects of it myself, this shift feels deeply important. Over the years, I’ve also worked with hundreds of women affected by PCOS/PMOS, and one thing has always been clear: these women deserved to be taken seriously at every stage of life — not only when trying to conceive.

Early diagnosis, better education, greater emphasis on lifestyle support (including appropriate exercise), and compassionate care can genuinely change lives.

Even a little butterfly joined us in today’s Postnatal Circuit 😍🦋

This is what our sessions really look like…
Babies on mats, mums moving, chatting , feeding, cuddling when needed, and continuing again. No pressure, no rushing.

I’ve created because I know how hard it can feel to return to movement after having a baby. Here, you don’t have to choose between looking after yourself and looking after your little one – you can do both, together.

✨ Baby-friendly environment - safe and clean rubber flooring, baby changing area and more
✨ Supportive, understanding atmosphere
✨ Strength-focused, safe postnatal training - Mums and Babies Circuit on Tuesdays and Pilates on Fridays, both start at 10:15 am
✨ A community of mums who truly get it

This kind of space is still so rare, and I feel very grateful we have it here in Kilkenny.

We currently have 2 spots left in our Postnatal Circuit – if you’ve been thinking about joining, you’re so welcome 🤍
