Why Not? Hoops Mid Term Camp
U13 & U12 players showed up and did WORK 🔥🔥🔥

We are so proud of all the Work done this week. Players & coavhes tried to take care of the details in all ways, who were relentless in effort with corrections of footwork & handwork, often by mere inches, players who had to face their Inner Critic [ALOT] especially when we showed hard truths on video replays. We were all figuring out our resets from "B" game & loving the process. It's hard, but we can do hard things.

As our community continues to grow and reach new faces, new clubs, all while remaining inclusive and diverse, when it comes to skill level & ability, its what love most, creating a challenging learning environment for everyone.

Next Why Not? Hoops Clinic is December 28th & 29th, Athlone, registration opens next Monday.

It is always a joy to coach the really young kiddos - especially when I get to teach shooting! They look like they want to laugh and cry at the same time, being so brave and relentless in trying to master shooting mechanics.

Shooting is hard, really hard, particulary for U12 and younger. These last two days this group learned new physical skills, developed the mental fortitude to accept a challenge (because we miss WAY more shots than we make!) and most importantly the ability to have compassion for themselves when they don't get the desired result.

We all know, we generally lose ALOT in sport and in life, we spend our entire time trying to avoid failure and parents have moved from being helicopters to snowploughs. Trying to clear the way of all pain and disappointment. I am not sure when it became socially unacceptable to fail, but from a psychological perspective, it is really unhealthy. Glennon Doyle said it best when she said, our job is not to help our kids to avoid the fires in life, but to remind them they are FIREPROOF.

And thats what this group were this week, they walked through the fire, they were encouraged to "fail up" by getting curious about what missed shots are teaching us and searching for habits that aren't necessarily helping us be better basketball players or teammates.

We also danced, alot, we all love a good Decendants tune. This group was truly R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S and I mean that in the BEST way. Even Paddy got his dancing shoes on, it just took a little Elvis.
