Senior Men

KEUFC Mens A team started their Premier League season with an away trip to Real Tubber on Sunday morning in bright sunshine.
The early pattern saw KEUFC owning a lot of possession but Tubber dangerous from direct balls. The away team broke the deadlock after 11 minutes, Brandon Fitzgeralds free from the wing headed in by Brian Duffy. Ben Cawley saw his shot come off the post shortly after as KEUFC dominated theearly play. But the home team got back on level terms, a free from Tarik Yassin broke in the box and was poked to the net by Robert Jordan. 1-1 at half time and all to play for the KEUFC lads took the lead again on 53 minutes, Oisin Finnerty teeing up Ben Cawley who finished neatly. 10 minutes later a mix up at the back allowed Brandon Fitzgerald to cleverly chip Ross McCarrick in goal to open some daylight between the teams. Real Tubber did get a grip of the game for a period and threatened, especially from set pieces, one of which rattled the woodwork and another few scrambled away by the KEUFC defence. As the game entered injury time, a throw into the box was flicked on by Jordan Douglas and Oisin Finnerty got his reward for a lot of hard running today when he flicked the ball home.
A 4-1 opening day victory on the road for KEUFC and the 3 points headed back west.

U14 Boys

Our u14A boys welcomed Ballisodare Utd to Michael McGown Park last night in round 2 of the Cup competition.
Two well organized teams who fought and battled hard throughout the game and played a nice brand of football but it was the home side who came away with all 3 points on the night with a 3-2 win. Massive well done to all 18 of the lads who contributed to the win and a special mention to Phelim O'Neil who pulled off some brilliant saves throughout the game

U12 Boys

Our KEUFC U12 boys/2014s travelled to Riverstown Arena to play Arrow Harps FC in the SLY Champions Group.
The scoreline is a bit harsh on the Seasiders but all credit to the AHFC goalkeeper who had a worldie and if 50% of our shots been successful we could realistically come away with a point and a 5-5 draw!
Being 3 nil down at HT didn't stop the KEUFC lads making plenty of chances.
We lost the first half 3-0 and drew the second half 2-2.
Goals by Tom Deehan, assist by Iarla Fallon, and Sam Boland, with assist by Patrick McSharry, were well deserved.
Their next fixture is a challenging one against St John's at MMcG Park.

Senior Men Reserves

Adult soccer returned to McGowan park this evening as the KEUFC Mens Reserves got their new campaign underway as they hosted Chaffpool under lights on a wet and blustery evening.
The home team played some nice football and deservedly took the lead when Matthew Conlon found Oisin Arthur on the edge of the box and Oisin blasted home, in off the underside of the bar on 20 minutes. Just before half time David Lynotts shot was deflected in to give KEUFC a 2-0 lead but Cloonacool did rally before half time and struck the post from a corner and were thwarted by Adam O Connor in goal for the home side.
In the 2nd half Cloonacool got back into it when Paul Connollys free from the wing found its way into the net on the hour. KEUFC went to youth on the bench and two 16 year olds Oisin Corcoran and Luke Cawley came on and made an impact. Luke put some daylight between the teams on 70 minutes when he fired in right footed at the near post. Oisin Arthur hit his 2nd goal with another fine strike on 79 minutes and Oisin Corcoran blasted to the top corner with time almost up to give the home side a 5-1 win and a great start to the season.
Well done to both teams for a good game of football and to referee Mark Irwin who officiated.
