The Water Sports Inclusion games were held in Galway last weekend. It was a massive success, over 250 people partook in Dive Ireland’s snorkeling event, most snorkeled and our Thomas cracked out the new club bathyscopes and they were a big hit.
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Pat Bergin, father of Orla and father-in-law of Conor. Pat was a monumental figure both within our club and the wider diving community. He was a member of GSAC, a former club president, an active member of the hyperbaric chamber team and also served as NDO of Diving Ireland. Pat was a true pioneer of the sport and he will be sadly missed by friends and family alike. Funeral Arrangements:
Friday, 3rd July : Reposing at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91 V1K8) from 6pm. - 7:30pm.
Saturday, 4th July : Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Pat on arrival at the Galway Cathedral at 9:30am. Following Mass, Patrick will be laid to rest in Rahoon cemetery
What dive day we had at Aran. First dive was Synge’s Chair followed by the Puffing holes. Amazing vis, life and underwater vistas! Stunning diving.
I’m really late getting this post up from the wkd of the 14th June! We headed to Boffin and had two fantastic dives. We did our interval on Boffin and met a lovely gang of divers that were there for the week, that had towed two boats all the way from Aberdeen! .
We headed off to Mayo for the long wkd. The weather/swell didn’t play ball over the wkd but we pulled out a couple of savage dives. Based in Belmullet we ventured up to Dun Briste for a dive. Excellent vis, the colour and life on the dive was fantastic. We also nabbed a great dive off Horse Island. Lots of life and a lovely canyon at the end of the dive. In between the dives we had plenty of exploring and basking shark spotting from the shore. All in all an excellent weekend away!
