Galway are senior Munster Cricket cup Champions 2026
Facing Limerick Cricket Club in the Mardyke. Galway electing to bat first on an overcast day Galway were soon in trouble with both openers remover inside the 20 deliveries and soon 3 down for just 18 runs with a trio of experienced batters back in the pavilion.
Galway were soon 5 down for just 44 runs before Sai Rohit Lella and Basheer Fanakzai tried to rebuild each making it into the 20's before both falling to run outs. At 89-9 it looked like Galway were going to be well short of a competitive total but a battling last wicket partnership between Captain Jayesh Juneja and Siva Guru
added 38 runs to the total.
With 127 runs to defend Galway felt confident, the have in recent years successfully defended small totals and know how to apply pressure.
Striking quickly Jayesh and Basheer soon had Limerick 21 - 3 and struggling to score. Opener Bharat was providing stubborn resistance with 22 from 53 soon Limerick were 53-7 with wickets shared between all 4 of the bowlers, Jay, Basheer, Sukhpal and Kihzar.
Galway knew Limericks danger man was Prasad Hedge with a low total a few boundaries from the big hitter could really change the game. Khizar stepped up and with a smart grab from Sai Rohit the danger man was gone.
Basheer returned to swiftly bowl the tail out, claiming his 3rd wicket with his last available delivery as galway won by 15 runs to claim their first senior cup title since 2016

Co. Galway women's won their Munster Cricket T20 Super Cup semifinal against Lismore Cricket Club on Saturday.
Captain Beverley chose to bowl first taking advantage of economic bowling. Jaagriti struck the first wicket. Galway debut Ashana took a wicket which was caught by Siddhi, who also bowled out the opposistion's captain. The Galway skipper too took a wicket herself aided by a dramatic catch by Sewwandi. A change of wicket keeping to Evelyn led her to catch wickets from Sewwandi and Siddhi again. Fantastic team defence by tight, quick fielding limited a determined Lismore. Jaagriti struck again in the final over leaving the home side 60/7.
Our hosts defended well. SJ's solid catch off opener Evelyn and a stunning bullseye throw at the stumps from Lismore's Issy caused Sewwandi to be run out. The steady 30 run partnership of Jaagriti and Siddhi gave Galway the runs we needed till Jaagriti was caught by Issy bowled by Lara. At this point is was one run to win but more drama for Galway ensued! Next ball in the same over, another Galway wicket loss bowled again by Lara, run out by Sarah Lismore's skipper. Fortunately Lara was denied her hatrick when Siddhi and Fatima crossed for a single winning the game for Galway by 6 wickets, 61/4.
Co. Galway CC wish to express our gratitude to our hosts Lismore for their welcoming hospitality and a friendly mixed teams 5 over match played in great camaraderie.
On 22nd of August Co. Galway CC women will now face Cork County Cricket Club women in a thrilling final!

The Connacht Cricket Union T20 Junior final was not for the faint of heart. We walked out to bat after losing the toss and were 0/1—talk about a wake-up call!
But we didn't fold. Suhaas and Fahim stepped up to the crease, deciding the powerplay was meant for hitting, not hiding. We hit a wobble in the middle, but a calm Taimoor walked in and decided to take on the bowlers. He was joined by Ramiz, and together they built a 65-run partnership that saw us post a competitive 177/7. It felt 15 runs short, but in a final, we knew it was a defendable total.
Shamrocks CC gave us a quick reminder of that, coming out swinging with their top three. At the halfway mark, they were cruising and it looked like the trophy was slipping through our fingers. Then, the game flipped.
The spin duo of Fahim and Taimoor applied the brakes hard on the Shamrocks advance while Shino's pace bowling blew away the lower order.
Our lead spinner finished with four wickets and was in close contention for Man of the Match, but the guy who walked in when the pressure was at its peak, anchored the innings with 55, and delivered a clinical spell with the ball? Take a bow, Taimoor—our Man of the Match.
This victory secures our maiden title in the very first CCU Junior T20 Cup tournament.
