Well done to everyone for taking part in today’s inaugural Arranmore GAA townlands matches.

In the Ladies game the bragging rights went to the East girls and the West lads came out on top in the men’s game.

I don’t think the results will matter too much as long as the cups are kept well topped up 😁😁

On Saturday at Rannagh park the first official East vs West townlands matches will take place.

The ladies East vs West match will see the winner lift the Mary McGowan cup and the mens East vs West townlands will play for the Neily Nancy cup, a great tribute to our long standing sponsors Neilys Bar.

The boundary line has been drawn (and revised a couple of times) and it should be a great occasion with pride and bragging rights at stake.

If you are about make sure and call down and cheer on your side or even better bring your boots and get involved. The more the merrier.

Throw in on Saturday is at 2.45pm.

What a crew!!

Unfortunately our lads came up short against Bere Island in the semi final for the second year in a row in what was a really close game. Final score was Bere Island 1-5 Arran 6 points.

As you can see the Arran contingent are in good spirits and will enjoy some well earned refreshments tonight.

After beating Whiddy and Clare Island the boys are in the semi final against old foes Bere island. Having beat them 2 years ago to win the tournament, Bere got their revenge by beating us in last years semi final.

Our 2026 Árainn Mhór ladies GAA team.

Unfortunately the ladies were beat in their two games but fair play to you all for making the journey and representing the island with pride. The earlier date of the tournament didn’t suit some players and the squad was a bit lighter as a result. I am sure they will be back next year stronger than ever 🏐

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies and I’m sure the two managers will look after yous off the pitch 🍺 🍹 🍷

Best of luck to our men’s and ladies teams who are competing in the All islands tournament tomorrow on Inis Mór.

Ladies throw in at 9.00am against Inisbofin and their second game is at 9.25am against Inis Oirr.

The men’s team throw in at 12.15pm against Whiddy Island and again at 3.50pm against Clare Island.

That time of year again folks.

This years all islands tournament will be held on Inis Mór, the biggest of the Aran Islands, on the 25th of April. Preparations are well underway and yet again we have a strong squad of men and women heading south to represent Arranmore.

Pictured below is last years Ladies team who gave a fantastic account of themselves on Inis Oírr. There is plenty to be optimistic about going into this years tournament.

Hopefully all on the roads will have settled by then or else we might need to get the ferry straight down 🤠

We’ll be at the Christmas Market tomorrow at the hall CFFAM Árainn Mhór with a limited amount of stock.
