MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGE

Ireland’s top female singles players Sophia Noble and Siofra Flynn will compete in the Malaysian International challenge event this week.

Sophia and Siofra have prepared well doing a training camp in the BAM National training centre.

Sophia will face number 7 seed Passa-Orn Phannachet 🇹🇭

Siofra will face Yulia Yosephine Susanto 🇮🇩

Big thanks to the coaches in Malaysia for supporting our athletes in preparation for this event.

Umpire Course

The 2026 Badminton Ireland COG Umpire Course takes place in September starting with: Laws of Badminton on the 2nd and Instructions to Technical Officials (ITTO’s) on the 8th.
The Practical Sessions will be arranged at the theory session on the 8th.
Each province has a target event for the trainees to attend.

Everyone at Oranmore Badminton Club would like to wish Jason the very best of luck as he proudly represents Ireland at the Four Nations Graded International in Wales.

We would also like to wish the other Galway representatives, Larissa Hayden, Margaritte McKeown, Rajesh Edavalath Balan (GLTC) and Walisson Silva (Cortoon Badminton Club), the very best of luck. It’s a proud moment to see Galway so well represented.

Introducing the squad representing Ireland at the 4 Nations Graded International 2026 ☘️

This weekend, our athletes head to Cardiff to compete on 8–9 August.

🚨NGUYEN INTO TOUR 1000 QUARTERFINAL🚨

Nhat Nguyen 🇮🇪 continues his amazing run in China 🇨🇳WORLD Tour 1000 after beating World number 7 Li Shi Feng 🇨🇳 in his opening round match, Nhat has now beaten World number 23 Ayush Shetty 🇮🇳 in the last 16.

Nhat won the match 15-21 21-13 22-20, in the deciding game saving three match points before finally taking victory after 65 minutes of play.

In the quarterfinal he will now face World number 16 Toma Junior Popov 🇫🇷 🔥💪☘️

🏸 A New Chapter for Oranmore Badminton Club 🏸

Following our AGM, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to our outgoing committee for their hard work, dedication and commitment to Oranmore Badminton Club over the past year. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated and have helped make our club the welcoming and enjoyable place it is today.

We are also delighted to introduce our committee for the 2026/27 season:

We wish the new committee every success and look forward to working together for another great year of badminton.

Although our official season has come to an end, badminton continues throughout July and August on our regular Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and we hope to see plenty of familiar faces on court over the summer.

Martin will also continue to run our popular Beginners Badminton session on Sunday evenings at 8.00 pm. Whether you’re completely new to the game or returning after a break, everyone is welcome to come along and give badminton a try.

As we look ahead to September, we look forward to welcoming back all our existing members for another enjoyable season. We also extend a very warm welcome to new members of all ages and abilities who would like to join our friendly club.

Here’s to another year of great badminton, friendship and fun on and off the court. We look forward to seeing you all on court! 💙🏸
