U15 preseason friendly

Fermoy A - 4

Carrigtwohill - 1

A great run-out for the team in today’s preseason friendly, with plenty of game time for everyone involved. The squad showed good energy, teamwork and plenty of positive signs as preparations for the new season continue.

The team came away with a convincing 4–1 victory, with Edward and Rian getting on the scoresheet, while Ted grabbed a brace.

A really useful workout for the whole squad and plenty to build on as the season approaches.

Best of luck to Jack and Peter who are recovering from injuries, Speedy return boys ⚽️

Munster Senior League Division 1

Fermoy 1

Leeds 1

The seniors were hoping to follow on their great start after last week's win with another tough test against Ballyvolane side Leeds. We knew going into the game it would be a big test physically and in fairness to the lads they stood up to the task. Leeds had the better of the first half hitting the post a few times but we did create some good moments ourselves and we were happy to go in level at the break 0-0.

Fermoy went a goal behind on 49 minutes when a long free kick ended on the left side of our penalty area. Some good work from two Leeds players led to a ball pulled back into a dangerous area and tapped in from close range. What would the response be and in fairness to the lads the response was brilliant. Some of the football in a 15-20 minute spell after the Leeds goal was a joy to watch. Jack drew two good saves from the Leeds keeper.

We were rewarded on 56 minutes when Jorge came out on top in a midfield battle. He struck a shot from 25 yards and hit the back of the net to the keepers right. The final 25-30 minutes was to and fro and to be fair it could have gone either way. Another positive result and a great team performance all round. Man of the match performance from Gavin Dawson with a few fine saves

Looking ahead we travel to Ballinhassig Thursday next for a 8pm kickoff

Fermoy U15B 2 - 1 Mallow Utd B.

On a sunny Saturday evening, Fermoy B travelled the short distance to Mallow for their last pre-season friendly before the league starts next week.

It took a little time for Fermoy to settle as the lads get used to each other following the changes in the off season.

Once they had settled, there was only one team in it as Fermoy dominated Mallow despite the fact that Mallow are a couple of divisions above them.

The breakthrough came after some nice passing and Ben O Mahony slotted confidently passed the keeper on his debut.
Fermoy eased off the tempo a bit too much then and Mallow were soon level.

After half time, Fermoy came out reenergised and attacked Mallow from the start. The lead was restored by Jayden who had a fine effort from distance. Fermoy were unlucky not to extend the lead and hit the post twice in quick succession.

2-1 Final score and a great finish to Pre-season.

A special thanks to Ted, guest starring in goals while our regular keeper is on leave.

Fermoy 1-1 Leeds

Domino's Player of the Match Gavin Dawson pictured with coach Adrian O'Driscoll. Honours ended even in this one, with both sides walking away with a point apiece - though on another night, either side could easily have taken all three. Gavin was in inspired form between the posts, pulling off some magnificent saves, and his Man of the Match award was thoroughly merited off the back of it.

Thanks as always to 's Pizza Cork for their continued support.

THIRD PLACE. FIRST SEASON. WHAT A RIDE.

Every team has a season that defines them. For Fermoy Ladies, this maiden campaign has been the one where raw potential turned into something tougher, sharper, and unmistakably theirs. And on home turf, under the familiar lights of Carrig Park, they showed again that they are no longer newcomers.

And results elsewhere confirmed it: Fermoy Ladies will finish third in their debut senior league season. An extraordinary achievement for a squad of 35 plus exceptional women who have refused to be ordinary.

They faced a Midleton side who would be crowned champions after the final whistle, defending a perfect league record. Worthy champions. A serious outfit.

For the opening 35 minutes, Fermoy were better. Sharper. Braver. They played like a team who believed they could hand the champions-elect their first defeat. Then came the punches.

Two Midleton chances. Two goals in the final ten minutes of the half. A game Fermoy had controlled had suddenly changed. Five minutes after the restart, it was 3–0.

For most teams, against opposition of this calibre, that would have been game over.

For Fermoy, it was the moment they rolled up their proverbial sleeves.

Captain Michelle Caplice gave them a lifeline from the penalty spot after the Midleton goalkeeper brought down Amyra Lavery when she was clean through. Yellow card.

Giada Talossi and Michelle combined beautifully for a superb second goal, the kind that arrives when players stop thinking and start trusting the instinct that only comes from time, sweat, and shared belief.

Midleton suddenly looked uncomfortable. The frighteners had been put on them.

Fermoy went hunting for the equaliser. Fresh legs arrived. Chances came. Half chances came. Hope came with them.

In the final minute, Caoimhe Hartnett slipped Michelle through on goal. A hat-trick her performance deserved and an equaliser hung there for a heartbeat before her effort drifted agonisingly beyond the far post.

But what mattered more was everything that came before it.

April Ross made several assured saves and was excellent in her distribution. Clodagh Howard, Grace Hickey and Jill O'Mahony were unflappable. Brooke O’Brien Noctor and Lily O’Callaghan were immense. Chloe Flynn and Stephanie Lynch Higgins denied Midleton any joy from distance. Aileen Hurley delivered possibly her finest performance of the season. Michelle marauded from midfield. I could go on in the same vein, because truthfully, numbers 1 to 18 were to a woman outstanding.

Third place in their first season is secured. On Monday, one league game remains. One more home performance against second-place Lyre Rovers. One final chance to watch these entertainers before the curtain falls on an epic maiden season. One more night at Carrig Park.

If this is the end of the beginning, you really don't want to miss it.

Fermoy: April Ross, Clodagh Howard, Grace Hickey, Brooke O'Brien Noctor, Lily O'Callaghan, Chloe Flynn, Aileen Hurley, Libby McGrath, Paula Kvosyte, Michelle Caplice (C), Sophie McCarthy, Stephanie Lynch Higgins, Amyee Lavery, Fianait Crowley, Jill O'Mahony, Giada Talossi, Amyra Lavery, Caoimhe Hartnett.
