Moylussa - Another fantastic day on the hills on Saturday, proving once again that a little mist and cloud are no obstacle to a great adventure.

As low cloud drifted across the mountain ridges and mist rolled over the surrounding landscape, members paused along the trail for a group photograph, capturing the spirit of the day. Equipped with waterproofs, walking poles, and plenty of enthusiasm, the group embraced the changing conditions and continued to enjoy the stunning scenery.

Days like these showcase what the Clare Outdoor Club is all about friendship, fresh air, shared experiences, and a love of exploring the beautiful Irish countryside, whatever the weather may bring.

A sincere thank you to Dace Dravniece for leading the walk and ensuring everyone enjoyed a safe and memorable day in the mountains. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mystery weekend.

The destination for the Mystery Weekend was finally revealed on Friday afternoon, and we were instructed to make our way to Di**le. What a weekend awaited us!

Eilish certainly outdid herself this time, putting together an action-packed adventure from start to finish. Saturday saw us take the ferry to the magnificent Great Blasket Island, where we explored the beautiful landscape, soaked up the island's rich history, and enjoyed spectacular views of the Atlantic coastline.

After returning to Di**le, we relaxed with a well-earned meal and a few drinks while sharing stories from the day's adventure.
On Sunday, we headed for the stunning Glanahoo Valley. Following the Glanahoo River through a deep glacial valley carved by ancient glaciers, we passed the ruins of an old clachan settlement and local landmarks such as the Wolf's Step and Binn an Tรบir. The walk provided a fitting finale to a fantastic weekend before finishing up in Annascaul.

Thanks to Aoife Fallon and David O'Connor for leading Sunday's walk.

A huge thank you to Eilish for organising a brilliant weekend,
Great walks, great company, plenty of laughs, and memories that will last for years to come. โ˜บ๏ธ

Corcogemore, Mullach Glas and Binn Mhรณr

Another fantastic day in Connemara! โ›ฐ๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

Starting at the Corcogemore side, we continued along the Maamturks ridge over Mullach Glas and Binn Mhรณr, following the first section of the Maamturks Challenge route. It might only be about a third of the full challenge, but James was fairly confident weโ€™d covered at least 90% of it! ๐Ÿ˜‚

We couldnโ€™t have asked for better conditions, with clear skies, great visibility and wonderful views throughout the day.

The views stretched across the Inagh Valley and Lough Inagh to the Twelve Bens, over the Connemara lakes and out towards Galway Bay. A perfect day to be out on the hills.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and made it such an enjoyable day, and to our walk leaders Aoife Fallon and Fiona Mangan for another great hike. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฅพ

๐Ÿฅพ GLENINAGH, BURREN โ›ฐ๏ธ

What a fantastic day out in the spectacular Gleninagh, Burren! ๐Ÿฅพ Great scenery, great company, and another brilliant day on the hills with Clare Outdoor Club.

A special mention to Fiona Fahy, who took on the role of Walk Leader for the first time today. ๐Ÿ‘ Fiona did a fantastic job leading the group and showed great confidence throughout the day.

Fiona was also under the watchful eye of our vastly experienced Walk Leader, Eilish Corbett, who was able to pass on her extensive hiking and leadership knowledge throughout the day and provide guidance when needed. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฅพ

Letโ€™s just hope Fiona doesnโ€™t pick up too many of Eilishโ€™s unusual hiking and walk-leading habits! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฅพ

Well done, Fiona, a fantastic first time leading! ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽธ Thin Lizzy Tribute for Fergus, at Tom Steele's

Tomorrow night, friends and family will gather in Tom Steele's to celebrate the life of our dear friend and former Clare Outdoor Club member, Fergus McCarthy.

Fergus was a true gentleman whose kindness, humour, friendship, and love of the outdoors touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his memory lives on in the many adventures we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the lasting friendships he helped create.
He is dearly missed but will never be forgotten.

Benchoona and Gerrane loop,

Great day in Connemara! We set off from Lettergesh Beach, taking in Altnagaihera, Garraun and Benchoona. The weather couldnโ€™t have been better, with sunshine from start to finish and incredible views in every direction. As if that wasnโ€™t enough, we finished the day with a swim at Lettergesh Beach. The perfect way to end an unforgettable day in the hills.

Huge thanks to Andrew Killeen and Fiona Mangan for leading another fantastic hike. Looking forward to the next one!๐Ÿ˜Š
