One of the questions I get asked is, “What was the best experience you’ve had as a coach?”
There are too many to list, but one moment that will always stick out is standing with Johnny Walker just before he walked out in front of 19,000 fans a UFC Fight Night attendance record at the time for the main event against Anthony Smith in North Carolina.
The tension before the walkout is something you can never truly experience in a non combat sport. The closest thing I’ve ever experienced was leaving the gates of Camp Bastion for the first time to go on our first mission in Afghanistan.
Two completely different environments, but the feeling was strangely similar.
