**Childminders**
Date for your diary, coming up later this year we are running in conjunction with South Dublin Childcare Committee Always Children 1st training specifically for childminders.
This training will take place Monday 21st Sept & Monday 28th Sept (both nights need to be attended) from 6.30pm-9.30pm in the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan.
If you are a childminder who is working in their own home then you are welcome to attend.

A Reminder on the Importance of Hydration in Hot Weather
Joana, Better Start’s Lead Dietitian has a reminder for services on keeping children hydrated:
“Hydration is so important for children, and in warmer days we need to pay even more attention to this and make drinks available at all times and remind children to keep drinking. Always offer water and milk they will keep them hydrated and these drinks are kind to their teeth”.

Tusla’s Key Messages include:
- Indoor Comfort: Maintain sleep rooms at 16--20°C for babies. Use ventilation, blinds, and air conditioning to keep spaces cool.
- Hydration: Frequently offer water, milk, or fluids to prevent heat exhaustion.
- Sun Protection: Require wide-brimmed sun hats and loose, light clothing. Apply sunscreen before sessions and reapply regularly.
- Outdoor Play: Limit strenuous physical activity on very hot days. Encourage playing in shaded areas and utilize cooler parts of the day.

Pre-Registration Training for Childminders
(Dun Laoghaire Rathdown & South Dublin Childminders)
Saturday 3rd October - Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan
From September 2027 all childminders working in their own home need to be registered with Tusla.
As part of the registration process you need to undertake pre-registration training. This training course will give you all the information that you need to understand the new childminding regulations and documents that are required to register with Tusla.
