Golf Ireland and Vision Sports Ireland Launch New Resource to Support Golfers who are Blind or Vision Impaired.
Golf Ireland, in partnership with Vision Sports Ireland, has launched a new educational video and resource designed to support golfers in taking on the role of a guide for golfers who are blind or vision impaired.
The video resource and accompanying Blind Golf Guide forms part of Golf Ireland’s Golf4All programme and Vision Sports Ireland knowledge hub, aiming to provide practical guidance to guides, caddies, volunteers and golfers on how to support and play alongside golfers who are blind or vision impaired.

A fantastic session at todays Blind Golf Guide Workshop today at The Heath Golf Club - The Heath, Co Laois!
Delivered in collaboration with Golf Ireland and the VIP Hub, the workshop brought together an enthusiastic group of guides and caddies keen to develop their knowledge and confidence in supporting blind and vision impaired golfers.
It was a brilliant opportunity to learn from PGA Professional Ray Ryan, and Irish golfer Darragh Stakelum who shared valuable practical advice on guiding, communication, course support and the important role of the caddie.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a positive day.
Following today’s workshop, we are now excited to prepare for the upcoming launch of our new Blind Golf resources. More information coming soon!

Great to be back at Barretstown to deliver Vision Sports Awareness Training with another brilliant group of new volunteers and staff.
During the session, we explored practical ways to support children who are blind or vision impaired, including communication, guiding techniques, adapting activities, understanding different types of vision impairment, and creating inclusive and accessible camp environments.
It is fantastic to see the commitment from the team at Barretstown to ensuring every child has the opportunity to take part, feel included and enjoy a positive camp experience.
Wishing the team the very best for the season ahead.

Vision Sports Ireland, along with Vision Ireland, are supporting research by DCU. The Start Well+ study is a Research Ireland funded project based at DCU investigating physical literacy and sport participation among children with vision impairment in Ireland. The next phase of the research has begun with children who are blind or vision impaired being asked to take part.
Children are invited to complete an anonymous online questionnaire (approx.10 minutes) about their physical activity habits, preferences, enjoyment, and how they like to learn. Participation is entirely voluntary. The study aims to develop programmes and activities to better support children who are blind and vision impaired to be more physically active.
Survey links are available on the Vision Sports Ireland website - https://visionsports.ie/start-well-physical-literacy-for-us/
