Some midweek action from tonight and one that missed last weekend's roundup.

A warm Thursday evening in Dublin saw two Lusk athletes in race action at the Docklands 5k. Gerry Byrne (18:51) and Aidan Langley (19:56) finished 3rd and 5th respectively in the M50 category in an event that attracted almost 2,000 participants. Well done guys.

Peter Doyle sent in this report last Sunday towards the end of himself and Siobhan's fabulous sounding trip.
As our African odyssey comes to an end what better way to go out than with the Victoria Falls half marathon this morning. What a great experience in a spectacular part of the world.
Route starts in town on Zimbabwe side before crossing the iconic Victoria Falls bridge to Zambia, then back across again, then loops around outskirts of town including parts of the Zambezi national park so have guards with rifles along the route in case of wild animals!
A unique event as we got covered in cooling mist from the Falls we crossed the bridge & definitely wasn't about running a time as too many stops for photos!
Official results show us with 2hr.44 finishing time.

Not the usual numbers at parkrun on Saturday with Newbridge House being unavailable. Gavin Gleeson went to the inaugural event at Ballymount and secured a top 10 crossing the line in 19.34. Aidan Langley (21:35) travelled to Claremorris, Co Mayo and finished in 7th spot. We also had participants at Ardgillan, Bushy, Laytown Beach, Malahide and Father Collins.

Congratulations to all our athletes who competed over the weekend at the Nationals.
Saorlaith, Meabh, Sarah, Ava, Nessa, Eimear, Reuben, Emmet, Diarmuid, Eoin and Conor.
Well done to our medal winners:
Eoin McGuirk U17 Steeplechase - Silver
Nessa Donoghue U17 Pole Vault - Silver
Eimear McBride U19 Pole Vault - Bronze
Reuben Nolan U16 Pole Vault - Gold
Brilliant performance by Lusk pole vaulters Ava Lewis and Sarah Rigney beginning the weekend with Rueben Nolan having an early start on Sunday. Then we had some family affairs with Meabh and Nessa OโDonoghue and almost all of the McBride family taking part, while Emmet and Eimear jumped, Eamon had to live off his nerves as he coached and officated over both days.
Well done to Saorlaith finishing 6th in the discus and taking 6th in the hammer with a PB of 33.22. Diarmuid was 9th in the hurdles just missing the final by 0.01 seconds!
Well done to Eoin who had a fantastic race in the steeplechase securing silver. ๐๐ป
Best of luck to Nessa, Eoin and Conor who compete again next weekend at Day 3 of the Nationals.

There were a few summer evening races to choose from as well as a change of scenery for the Thursday training session and weekend long run. Quite a large contingent headed over to Rush on Thursday and enjoyed a dip in the sea after a warm one. A few groups moved Sunday's long run to the Phoenix park for a change of scenery and to familiarise themselves with some of the routes.

Well done to Jimmy Beattie who was in Co Meath on a hot Thursday evening for the Clonee 10k. Jimmy finished in 48:36.

The club had two athletes in Kilcock, Co Kildare on Friday night for the St Cocas 5k. Another steamy summer evening and a very competitive race where both from Lusk ran well. Dylan Cody-Foy secured a PB with great time of 18:09 while Deirdre Deegan came home in 20:45. Well done to both.

Ryan O'Driscoll took the opportunity to take in a race during his trip to Co Sligo. The Coney Island Adventure Run involved water up to knee level at one stage and some elevation in the last 3km. Ryan finished in 8th place in a time of 1:05:00.

There were 31 club members in parkrun action on Saturday morning.
6 venues were visited and it's probably safe to say that Peter and Siobhan Doyle win the prize again for most exotic. This week's South African adventure was to Mbabane in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) for a mainly grassy route. Peter was delighted that there was a decent hill to remind them of Ardgillan. Speaking of Ardgillan, Gavin Gleeson (21:07) finished in 2nd place with a PB.
Over in Donabate, Sean Greensit completed his 300th parkrun with 196 of them being at the Newbridge House event. The remaining 104 have been spread across 38 other locations. Susan Fanning (27:38) achieved a PB.
There was also Lusk participation at Father Collins, Malahide and Tubbercurry Trail, Co Sligo. Well done to all. Just a reminder that Donabate parkrun is cancelled on Saturday 4th July so there's an opportunity to try out a different location.
