The Academy are excited to welcome new and returning dancers as enrolment opens in August for Irish Dance Classes on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in the Civic Centre. Our classes are for boys and girls from 3 years of age. Taught by 4 fully qualified, Garda Vetted teachers. Our class have won collective World, Irish, National and International Champion titles both for solo and team dances. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our beautiful dance Mammy's, Lorraine Hoary following an illness fought so bravely.

Lorraine was so much more than a parent at The Academy, she was part of our family. As the devoted Mam of our three Academy girls, Saoirse, Caitlin and Aoibhe, she has been at the heart of our dance family for many years.

From the beginning with Jennifer's class (McDonnell School of Irish Dancing) in Portarlington to countless Academy memories, Lorraine was always there with a warm smile, a kind word, and endless support.

She is a treasured friend of the McDonnell family and someone we all love dearly.

Today, our Academy family is heartbroken. Lorraine's strength, kindness and gentle nature left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be missed beyond words.

To her precious girls, Saoirse, Caitlin and Aoibhe, and to their wonderful dad, Stephen, we are holding you close in our hearts.

Please know that you are surrounded by the love, prayers and support of your entire dance family during this incredibly difficult time.

Lorraine, thank you for the friendship, kindness and love you shared with us over the years. It was an honour to know you, and your memory will forever be part of our dance family.

Rest peacefully, Lorraine. You will always be loved, always remembered, and forever a part of The Academy x . 💙
