Two days of trails in Glendalough in preparation for the Wicklow Way.

Some runners covered 70 to 85km over two days.

Some runners joined for 2 days and some just for 1 day

And some runners experienced how one direction out of Glendalough on the Wicklow Way versus another direction can be two different types of feel, rolling terrain and different climb lengths.

Congratulations to Jason Monaghan completing Ultra Switzerland which has to go down as the longest event anyone in the group has done.

The time on feet was so huge that even couldn't take the duration.

The race itself wasn't 420km+ but in between sleep/aid stations Jason had to go eat in restaurants and shops to find food that would agree with such a long journey.

Thankfully the tracked it all the way.

the race only happens every 2 years so you will need tonwait until 2028 to try thisnepic challenge

When you bottom out Training Peaks duration

Jason had started out as part of a team with Martin Kirby but Martin has to drop around 220k for family reasons ❤️

Can you run 50k under 5 hours!

It is back this weekend in Donadea!!

Runners take on 10 laps of a 5km loop, navigating trails and roads surrounded by nature.

Known for its strict 5-hour cut-off, it challenges both seasoned ultrarunners and first-time 50K participants to dig deep and push their limits.

The support, camaraderie, and electric finish-line atmosphere make this event a true highlight in the Irish ultrarunning calendar!

Check out just making that 5 hour cut off!!

Want to run the Dublin Marathon in 2026?
Here’s your chance to do it for a cause that truly matters.

After John Joe Young ran the Dublin Marathon last year in aid of charity (look back a few posts), and the inspiration he gave us all, it felt only right for the club to do the same in next year.

In 2026, Fitness Goose will proudly partner with , Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

LauraLynn provides specialist palliative and supportive care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Ireland.

We have a limited number of charity places available, with the possibility of one or two spots for friends of the club as well.

Running a marathon is hard. But running a marathon for a reason bigger than yourself can carry you a long way. Taking even 60 seconds to reflect on what LauraLynn does, and the families they support every day, can make all the difference when things get tough out on the road.

If you’re interested, please get in touch.

First Marathon at 71 years old

John Joe Young decided that after a number of attempts at doing the marathon and never managing to make the start line, it was time to do it in his 70s.

Supported by his daughter Dee all day, John Joe crossed the finish line of the as darkness started to descend into Dublin city.

This is a reminder that nothing is ever too late.
