A beautiful day on Saturday for our guided climb of CARRAUNTOOHIL, Ireland's highest mountain.

An unforgetable day out on this amazing mountain and memories to savour.

Day 1 of our MOUNTAIN SKILLS 1 course today and the guys enjoyed beautiful weather.
A pleasant breeze in the Wicklow Mountains took the edge off the heat.

Superb day of navigation training and discussions.
A bucket load of new skills learned and put into practice.

PARSLEY FERN (Cryptogramma crispa)
This small to medium sized fern is considered an arctic-alpine species in Europe.
It is a pioneer species of acid rocky scree slopes and boulder fields on higher mountainous terrain, it is often the first and only plant to colonise these habitats.

In Ireland it is very rare, with just a few recorded sightings in the north of the island.

Though it's name might suggest otherwise, it is not related to parsley the herb, and is inedible.

".. I can't recommend Russell's mountain skills trainings enough. The confidence boost, the excitement, and the massive learning about all things hills - its brilliant to be out on the hills with someone who's spent their life in the outdoors and soak up all the knowledge.
Also loved the challenges, the practice, and the structure of the course which is NOT usually easy for me to say!
Had a brilliant time and kind of sad now to not have more training to do with this gem of a mountain trainer! .."

So many butterflies around the woodland rides and lane verges in the Glen of Aherlow last weekend.
Great to see, and a lift for the soul.
