When your young person is struggling, the instinct is often:
What do I say?
What do I do?
How do I fix this?
But a better question is:
What kind of day is this?
Are they open, or already overwhelmed?
Because if the timing is wrong, even good support can feel like pressure.
I’ll be covering this in my live webinar next Wednesday:
When to Step In and When to Step Back: Supporting a Struggling Young Person

The Unspoken Burden
The most expensive sentence in your home isn’t a bill or a mortgage payment.
It’s: “I’m fine.”
For 21 years, that was my sentence.
On the outside, I was the "perfect" son, the high-performer, the one who always showed up.
On the inside, I was drowning in a silence that almost cost me everything.
We often think silence is safe. We think masking our struggle protects the people we love.
But silence has a devastating ROI:
💔 Lost trust.
💔 Missed connections.
💔 A generational cycle of "fine" that hides a world of pain.
Globally, 1 in 7 adolescents are struggling with their mental health right now. Many of them are masters of the mask; just like I was.
As parents and adults, our greatest investment isn't in their grades or their trophies. It’s in creating a home where "I'm fine" isn't the only option.
My book, The Other Side, is a 21-year warning and a roadmap for families to break the silence.

I’ve been thinking about Thursday night.
Standing in a room with so many parents, you can feel how much people care. There’s a lot of worry out there, but there’s also a lot of commitment and honesty. It was clear in the questions, the stories, and the way people engaged.
One thing that always stands out to me is this:
Parents aren’t lacking effort.
They’re often just lacking support.
And yet they still show up.
They still try to understand their kids better.
They’re willing to learn and talk openly, even when it’s not easy.
If we want things to improve for young people, these conversations matter.
Adults learning, reflecting, and trying new approaches, that’s where real change starts.
Thank you again to everyone who came.
It meant a lot.

Last night was special.
A full room of parents, carers, teachers, coaches… all coming together with one shared intention: to understand the young people in their lives a little better.
The honesty in the room, the questions, the willingness to look at things differently — that’s what makes nights like this matter
We talk a lot about how teenagers are struggling, but what I saw last night was hope.
Adults who genuinely want to show up, listen, and create safer spaces for the young people they love
Thank you to everyone who came.
Thank you for the trust and the openness.
And thank you for making Killarney feel like home.
More to come.

🔥Why Am I Always Tired? The Hidden Cause No One Talks About
Ever wake up feeling like you never actually slept? 😴 You’re exhausted, but no matter how much rest you get, it’s never enough.
Sound familiar?
💡 Here’s the thing: this isn’t just tiredness—it’s burnout. And no amount of extra sleep will fix it if your brain and body never get a real break.
I know this struggle because I’ve been there. I used to wake up every day running on empty, pushing through, thinking I just needed to “try harder” or “get more sleep.” But it wasn’t about sleep. Burnout exhaustion is different.
🚨 In my new video, I break it all down:
✅ Why burnout makes you feel exhausted even after resting
✅ The mistake most people make when trying to fix it
✅ A 2-minute reset you can try today to start feeling better

👂Be a Support, Not a Fixer:
A Message to Parents and Guardians👂
As parents and guardians, it's natural to want to fix everything for our kids, especially when they’re struggling. But sometimes, they don't need us to solve their problems; they just need us to listen. 🧡
I, initially, didn't go to my family because I felt they would want to take control of the situation, which only added pressure. It's important to remember that offering a supportive ear without immediately seeking solutions can be more helpful. This approach doesn't just apply to our kids but to anyone in our lives who might be going through tough times.
Let’s focus on being there for our loved ones, creating a safe space where they feel comfortable opening up without the fear of being overwhelmed with solutions. Sometimes, just being there is enough. 🌟
