Huge congratulations to everyone who took part, organised and watched the Juveniles Irish Open in Portmarnock Pitch and Putt Club yesterday.

A superb performance from the home club as they took plenty of prizes with the Overall Winner, Enda Hayden with a simply superb score of 98 (-10).

Sarah Ryan of Tipperary Hills took yet another title as she won the Girls title with Gemma Hayden, Sophia Audah & Summer Audah all taking prizes again for the host club.

Brilliant organisation and promotion of the youth game and great to see a big crowd in attendance.

The Fippa Irish Open begins today for the rest of the field with sessions at 8am, 12pm & 4pm, so plenty of sun, sand, birdies, bogeys and craic to be found out in Portmarnock Pitch and Putt today and tomorrow with players from around Europe taking part.

Dublin County Board U-16s Matchplay Finals

We held an 18 hole Strokeplay qualifier for the boys Championship to make it to the final four with Hugo Gibbons Portmarnock,Hubert Phelan Shandon and the Lucan pair Ryan Taffe and Luke Blake all making it through to the semi finals stage.

Hugo played Luke and after a solid performance Luke won 2/1. In the other semi Hubert took an early lead and held on also to win 2/1.

The final was nip and tuck until Luke won 14 and 15 to go 3 up but Hubert battled hard and won the 16th and 17th to go down the last. He hit a great pitch which landed in the sprinkler head just short of the green. Luke's pitch found the left side bunker and a tie hole seemed on the cards.Luke played an excellent bunker shot to 5 feet and when Huberts putt slipped by Luke casually rolled in to claim his first Dublin title.

In the girls section we had great excitement with Summer & Sofia Audah going all the way to the 18th with Summer's greater experience winning a great battle. In the other semi Gemma Hayden who led the qualifying beat Amelia McCann 3/2 despite Amelia's valient efforts.

In the final Gemma took an early lead and played very solidly to secure a big lead after 9 holes and never backed off to secure another victory at Dublin level.

Our thanks to Shandon for hosting the event and the challenge of the course as always was appreciated. The greens were rolling beautifully and they certainly did for Loughlinstowns Gary Healy as he took the Scratch Cup on Sunday with a magnificent -19 total.

Thanks to Susan and Terry for their help and next week we head to Trim for the Leinster Matchplay.
