What a day! 🌸🏌️‍♀️

Lady President Catherine’s Day on Sunday was a fantastic success, with a huge turnout, glorious sunshine and a course looking in great shape despite everything our greenkeepers have been thrown at them this year! 👏

The ball was running a mile and the scores certainly reflected it! With 38 points needed to be in contention for a category prize, it was brilliant to see so many scores in the 40s.

A massive congratulations to our Lady Vice Captain Noeleen Byrne, who had an absolute blinder of a day, scoring an incredible 47 points to take home the Lady President’s Day Trophy! 🏆👏 A very well-deserved winner!

It was also fantastic to see so many people at The Address for dinner. The turnout was a wonderful reflection of just how much Catherine has given to the club and its members throughout her year as Lady President.

A brilliant day of golf, fun and friendship 💕

Lady Captain Barbara’s Day 2026 🏌️‍♀️⛳

What a memorable two days of golf it turned out to be!

Day One saw glorious sunshine and temperatures soaring into the high 20s, making it a real test of endurance. Despite the heat, there were some fantastic scores returned.

Day Two brought a completely different challenge, with strong winds testing every aspect of the game and ensuring the competition went right down to the final putt.

After two days of contrasting conditions, huge congratulations to our Lady Captain’s Day winner, Denise Larkin – our former Lady Captain (2021) and President (2025). Denise produced two excellent rounds to claim a thoroughly deserved victory, just pipping Mary Pearle, who also played superbly over both days in a closely fought contest. 👏🏆

Congratulations to all of our prize winners, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part and helped make Lady Captain Barbara’s Day such a special and memorable occasion.

The greenkeepers were busy last week verti-cutting the greens followed by top dressing. It is a process that boosts turf density, improves air/nutrient flow, and creates healthier, upright, and less "spongy" greens and the course has already seen the benefits this week!

The top dressing involves spreading a thin layer of sand across the greens which smooths the surface, dilutes organic thatch build-up, improves drainage, and firms up greens.

High pressure = Low Scores...?

The lovely dry weather this week has seen the course busy and it's great to see so many members and guests out enjoying themselves. Have you got your tee time booked for the weekend?

At Grange Castle Golf Club, the tee-boxes are regularly scarified to remove thatch and organic build-up, allowing air, water, and nutrients to better reach the soil. This was recently carried out ahead of the busier summer months ahead

This process encourages stronger, healthier grass growth and improves surface firmness and consistency. For players, it means a more stable footing, cleaner ball striking, and a higher-quality teeing surface throughout the season.
