Great news, another Bmx track on the way with planning approved today.

Well done to all involved 👏

Riders Ready 🚦🚦🚦

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 - 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗢𝗥'𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗝𝗢𝗥 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗕𝗠𝗫 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗝𝗨𝗠𝗣 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞!

Bangor has taken another exciting step forward with councillors tonight giving the green light to a major new cycling attraction at Bangor Sportsplex.

Planning approval has been granted for a substantial first phase of the ambitious Cycle Park project, paving the way for the construction of a purpose-built BMX racing track, an exhilarating Jump Park, and the transformation of the existing spectator stand into a dedicated cycling workshop and community hub.

The approved development will create a fantastic new destination for riders of all ages and abilities, with modern facilities to support grassroots participation and coaching, regional competitions, and community events.

This is another significant investment in the city's reputation as a place where people can enjoy first-class outdoor recreation and active lifestyles.

And perhaps the most exciting part is that this is only the beginning.

While the plans approved tonight are substantial in their own right, they form just the opening chapter of an even more ambitious long-term vision for Bangor Sportsplex. Additional cycling facilities are expected to come forward through future planning applications, building towards what could become one of the most impressive cycling destinations anywhere in Northern Ireland.

With work now a step closer to getting underway, Bangor's vision for a flagship cycling hub has moved another major milestone from drawing board to reality.
