Ireland's first Walking Football Strategy was released earlier this week in Dublin by Minister of State, Jennifer Murnane O'Connor TD.

The ROIWFA over 65’s men’s team qualified after the league stage (over two days) to play in the The Masters World Walking Football Cup August 2026

Our opponents were England EWF.
Our last meeting was in the Triskelion Cup Final in Birmingham in July when we lost in the last minutes to an England penalty awarded for 4 running offences (FA rules) against us.
We were keen to win this time .

England got a very nice early goal scored by their Player Manager Graham Liddiard.
Ireland battled well and both teams played very good quality walking football .
Given the rules we were playing to, both teams also avoided conceding a penalty for 5 offences. (UEFA rules)
We were both sitting on 4 at the final whistle!
The game was played in a competitive but friendly manner.
Congratulations to a very good (and nice) England EWF team.

Huge congratulations to all our teams who competed in the The Masters World Walking Football Cup August 2026 74 different players wore the green jersey with pride and passion. Between them they played 53 games across 7 different teams, with positive results in 34 of the games.
