How much discovery is too much? ๐ด๐พ
Red ball player.
Inside-out forehand.
We started with the discovery method.
Fed every ball to the backhand and asked him to find the forehand.
It didnโt quite connect...
So we adjusted.
A little more guidance.
A clearer movement intention.
We temporarily โclosed downโ the skill.
In one lesson โ it clicked.
Discovery is powerful.
But guidance matters too.
Itโs not open or closed.
Itโs knowing when to move along the pathway:
Closed โ Semi-open โ Open.
Once they master the skill,
the next progression is a decision-making exercise.
Design the environment.
Read the player.
Adjust the level of freedom.
