The Eastern Women’s Football League (EWFL) is currently exploring the opportunity to relaunch the EWFL Under 19 Section, which previously operated from 2021 to 2023.
The aim of reintroducing this competition is to create a structured pathway for young female players as they transition from underage football into senior football, while also supporting clubs in developing, retaining, and progressing their emerging talent.
We would like to invite your club to submit an expression of interest in participating in an EWFL U19 competition for the upcoming season, running from September 2026 to April 2027.
This timeframe would allow clubs to support players in their development ahead of transitioning into their 2027 senior squads.
The proposed competition would provide:
Regular competitive fixtures against clubs with similar player development objectives
A clear progression pathway from underage football into senior squads
Opportunities for clubs to retain players aged 15–19 within their football pathway
A competitive environment focused on player development and the long-term growth of the women’s game
To assist with our planning, we would appreciate if clubs could confirm their interest. Form available by emailing [email protected]
At this stage, this is an initial consultation process to establish the level of interest and help determine the most appropriate structure for the competition.
We would appreciate a response by 20 July to allow the league to assess the feasibility of the competition and progress discussions with interested clubs.
We look forward to hearing from your club and working together to further strengthen the pathway for younger players within the EWFL.
