Howth Yacht Club originated as Howth Sailing Club in 1895. In 1968 Howth Sailing Club combined with Howth Motor Yacht Club, which had operated from the West Pier since 1935, to form Howth Yacht Club. The new clubhouse was opened in 1987 with further extensions carried out and more planned for the future. We cater for sailors of all ages and run sailing courses throughout the year as part of being

Huge congratulations to our unstoppable HYC Junior Oppy Squad, who crushed it at the Irish Optimist Nationals! Taking on the rest of the country at the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven, our young sailors gave it their all out on the water-showing incredible grit, and ultimate HYC team spirit.
There was brilliant representation from HYC across all fleets. A special shoutout to our youngest and bravest HYC Juniors who did us proud in the Regatta fleets, and massive congrats to our talented prizewinners.
Thanks to: our super coaches; Sorcha G O’C, Charlie K, Cillian T and our weather guru Andrew K, to the brilliant teams at Royal Cork Yacht Club and International Optimist Dinghy Association Ireland iodai for hosting such a fantastic event, and the very welcome support of Howth Yacht Club members.
Next up on the IODAI Calendar is the Connacht Championships with our friends at Galway Bay Sailing Club on September 12–13. And in the meantime the Covy Dinghy Regatta 2026 is on at HYC this coming Sunday. All are welcome!

Congrats to Cian, Ciara, Aoibhín, Fiachra and Dylan for their performance at the J24 Northern Championship in Carlingford last weekend, winning the K25 division under tricky conditions and hitting a season-best 4th place finish.
The team has been quoted as saying "the racing was really competitive", "the fleet were really helpful" and "dinner was really good".
Well, are all 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 proud of our K25 team, and can't wait to see what they get up to at the J24 Nationals in Foynes next month!
The average day on the RIB as a HYC sailing instructor this summer - lots of waves, lots of laughs, and seeing our wonderful juniors go from strength to strength as they enjoy their courses ☀️🌊

Last week, 42 boats from Howth Yacht Club, the National Yacht Club and the Cruising Association of Ireland made their way to Skerries Sailing Club for lunch and merriment. The day was one for the books, with fantastic weather and wonderful hospitality thanks to Commodore Colm Collins and his outstanding team in Skerries. A sincere thanks also goes to Cruising Admiral Gerry O’Neill, Aideen Sargent, Andrew Collins (NYC) and Michael Kelly (CAI), whose planning and coordination helped make the gathering such a success 💛⛵
