A massive congratulations to our Four Masters U14 girls, who came through a thrilling Division 2 County Final today to defeat St Eunan’s on a final scoreline of:

Four Masters 4-09
St Eunan’s 3-09

The girls had a slow start but gradually worked their way into the game. A goal and two points in quick succession midway through the first half brought them right back into contention, before St Eunan’s responded just before the break to lead by two points at half-time.

A third St Eunan’s goal midway through the second half left Four Masters eight points behind and seemingly in serious trouble. However, backed by the incredible Four Masters support in the stands, the girls showed tremendous determination, character and belief to produce a dramatic comeback.

They tracked back, turned over possession, counter-attacked and found the scores they needed. With just three minutes of normal time remaining, Isla McShane scored the winning goal, completing a remarkable recovery and securing the county title!

Massive credit must go to every member of the team for the huge work rate shown, particularly throughout the second half. Emma Thomas and Fia McMullan worked tirelessly in midfield, supported brilliantly by Emmy Byrbe at centre half-back and Isla McShane, who was moved from centre half-forward into full-forward.

It was a true team performance, with every girl playing her part and refusing to give up.

Thank you also to the huge Four Masters support who encouraged the girls right until the final whistle. It made a real difference!

A fantastic achievement for this brilliant group of players and their coaches. Enjoy the celebrations, girls — you are County Champions! 💙🤍🏆

Four Masters G.A.A Club would like to extend our condolences to the family of Des Corley who sadly passed away yesterday. The Corley family have a long association with our club and Des' daughter Nuala is currently our Bord na nOg PRO along with her husband Ian Phillips who is heavily involved in our hurling section. To Des' wife Maura, Deborah, Paul, Edel, Aidan, Nuala, Claire & Caitriona, their partners and extended family, we offer our deepest sympathies, Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
